Exhaust

What mods are you using for exhaust?

AMPerformance downpipe? S14 de cat pipe? Silenced de cat pipe? Cat back exhausts? Side exit exhausts? I'm going to mine from turbo back once I get home and have time in January and February hopefully while the car is off the road. What are other people using?

I have a full AM Performance exhaust from the turbo to the tip. Quality is great as well as fit. It is straight through with no cat or muffler just a resonator...loud as hell but the car is only really a track car anyway.

AM performance 2pc elbow/downpipe
3" resonated test pipe

Fujitsubo Legalis R Catback

Super quiet, the fujitsubo is a bit restrictive. I exchanged a couple of hp for a quiet exhaust as it's my daily driver.

Hey Y'all,

So I just got the final fitment of my AMPerformance exhaust in place. 3" Screamer Downpipe, Decat, and Resonator. I love the look and sound of it, but fitment was certainly challenging.

So my exhaust hangers from the resonator back are pretty much holding the exhaust tight to the underside of the car (due mostly to the diameter of the cannon resonator). I'm not overly concerned as all my heat shields are still in place. Basically can't move the exhaust (without mild force) from the test-pipe back (as opposed to a hanging exhaust). The v-band clamp is touching the rear sub-frame, but I figure if the subframe starts moving enough to damage the exhaust, I've got bigger problems.

Any of you out there want to share your experiences fitting this exhaust? Is this just a natural byproduct of trying to cram a 3" exhaust into a space never designed for it?

I originally had a turbo-to-cat exhaust from AM performance, with some aftermarket japanese cat back piece, but later swapped the entire thing for a completely custom set up made by a local guy here in Winnipeg. To be honest I wasn't really all that pleased with the AM performance piece. I had to weld on a new O2 sensor bung for it to clear the ac compressor even though it apparently fits with it on (it wasnt even close), it rattled on my front sway bar at around 1000-2000 rpm. The flex stainless piece cracked after a couple years on the car because it was used as a bend, instead of a straight piece like they are supposed to be used for to dampen vibration from the motor moving. The flange where it attached to my de-cat was welded on at a 5 degree angle (instead of putting a slight bend in the pipe before the flange). So overall it was just sort of crappy workmanship/quality.

I agree with the 3 inch being an issue all the way to the back though. My set up is full 3 inches right where the wastegate re-enters, to the tip. There is a ridiculously small amount of room between the floor pan, and the rear subframe. Even the custom guy, getting the mock it up with my car right there, i can still hear it just rubbing a bit while the car is warming up. There is about 1/4' between the exhuast and the pan, and 1/4" on the other side between the exhaust and the sub frame.
