Red Deer, Leduc....

Name: Anthony
Location: Red Deer, Alberta

Currently have 2 GTi-R's. One is a "low" miles, near mint, low vin, restoration project which will hopefully be well optioned when it's road worthy again. It's famous, seeing it's the one in the header image on this site. I met Shane, Canada GTi-r's founding father, and bought his car. I've also net one or two others, Stevez, Stennes, ColdGTi-R...

The other is my track machine, which is currently my daily. It has 2 fixed seats, nearly no interior, everything Whiteline makes for the car. Weighs in at 1220KGs full tank. I bought this one from ColdGTi-R..

Also had a parts car in the driveway, but finally got that one picked up..

Previously I had 2 Skylines, one GTR, one Gts-t. Both were pretty quick. I'm having more fun in the GTi-R.

I try to author a GTi-R blog when I have time or find something interesting.

Dreams: Retire at 45, live down the road from Nick in japan.... :)

I went from a 530WHP GTR to a 220HP GTi-R, but I'm still smiling....

Name is Steve. I'm in London Ont.

I've had a GTIR since December, before that a Eaton Supercharged NX that I still have. My plans are to twin charge the GTIR, and build it into a track monster, or rally it. But tarmac is easier to come by, and cheaper in the long run.

The GTiR was my first 'real' car - before that I owned a bunch of different civics in various states of modification, some swapped, one turbo. Also had a brief stint with an NA rx7.

I started canadagtir.com almost 3 years ago, when I first discovered the GTiR. I imported mine personally from Japan, and planned to chronicle the whole process here on the site. As you can see I obviously did not complete anything official, but instead lured many of you here with the promise of a 'guide to importing a pulsar from japan to canada' - lol. If anyone wants to make such a guide and submit it by the way, I'd be much obliged :) I've been amazed to see the site grow as it has over the years, and am blown away by the awesome community you guys have built here! I've met a few members over the years, and always welcome the chance to chat about cars with any local users.

I sold the GTiR that started it all to Anthony (wingnut), and am currently driving an Acura TSX. I have plans to buy another GTiR at some point, but not immediately. The next car on my list is a bmw 335i (twin turbo, baby), which I should be in by the end of this year.

Well I currently don't own a GTi-R but that will hopefully change in the not-too-distant future. My life consists of everything to do with cross country mountain biking. I am head mechanic at our bicycle/ski shop, high performance coach for a development program, have a bicycle mechanic business on the side, and organize a huge house down in South Carolina every year for 9 weeks in March and April to get away from the snow. In my spare time I ride my bike lots, compete nationally at an Elite level, work on bikes some more, and check out GTi-R Canada. My latest projects are meticulously building up my dream bike with fully customised components and on the short term getting ready to do my first 24hour mountain bike race solo on August 28/29.
I remember seeing my first GTi-R at Mosport a couple years ago. I thought it was a quirky looking car which is probably why I instantly loved it. I am crazy about 90's Japanese cars and have wanted a Skyline for a long long time. I realised I wouldn't be able to afford a GTR for a wile so I started looking at the GTS-t. I then came back to the GTi-R and after a long time I finally settled on the Pulsar over the GTS. I hope to find one this winter so that I can take it down to South Carolina with me where there are some of the best roads in North America.
That's about all there is. Currently I am driving an EK Civic which I have owned for 2 years and has helped me start to learn about working on cars. Get my whole story at my site
http://bennosblogandmore.blogspot.com/
and if any of you are interested in doing a road trip in the spring down to SC and ripping up some mountain roads you are more than welcome to come stay at my place down there.

(liquidpuls and GTIR_DONE) I bought the car in Calgary in April of 2008 and got it licensed just in time to drive it as my grad car :D Took 2 trips to calgary to get it but it made for a fun trip home. My plan is to buy another one and make it a stupid fast drag car(im going for sub 10's(hopefully!!)) and then keep my current one and make it just mint, running perfectly, very driveable, fix the rust and then just keep it forever even if i dont drive it often. Here's me at grad, haha What it now looks like. (nxpartssource - are you the guy the stopped me in the parking lot near Yonge & Mulock in an NX a couple of years ago?)

Anyway, bought the car in spring of 2006 and its my summer/weekend toy.
I bought it because I lived in Japan from 2003 to 2005 on assignment - I'm an automotive design engineer. I mainly worked there with Nissan. One of my main contacts owned one and that was the first I had ever heard of it. I didn't intend to get one until one day shortly after moving back, I saw that an importer had one in transit and decided to take a look as soon as it got in. Apparently even the importer here didn’t know what it was - his specialty was Skylines, but his contact in Japan recommended he take it - "somebody there will want this." Well, he was right, because after test driving it I had to have it.

my skidplate took most of the damage, the only loss is my brand new konigs! ( i just smashed in some nice enkeis earlier!)

but all in all, I have a big smile on my face because I didn't buy this car to play nice ;)

300ish BHP, HKS everything, KMAC full suspension (all custom hand made) and a full fiberglassed trunk, which houses "boxless" subs, speakers etc.

hopefully i'll have the pictures of the car back on the road soon ... walking sucks haha!

Mar 30, 2008

Name: Richard
Location: Campbell River, B.C.

My previous car was an 89' Suzuki Swift GT which I had turbocharged. I loved that little pocket rocket and always had dreams of swapping the engine into the AWD Cultus chassis from Japan. Alas, the Cultus is rare, and when I discovered the GTI-R, it was essentially what I always wanted the Swift to be. Although my Pulsar is heavier and not yet as fast as the old 'Zuke, it's a much better starting point. I love All-wheel drive!

My GTI-R is not yet modified, except for some anthracite 16" Ultraleggeras, window tint, and the cat-back exhaust that came with it. First on the agenda are some brakes, and suspension upgrades.

The Swift shared a garage with a 96' Suzuki GSX-R 750, which met it's demise on the racetrack a few years back. Its replacement is an 06' Yamaha R6 Raven, whose black and red livery nicely matches the Black Pulsar with red calipers. (I'm such a geek.)
IMG_0529.jpg
I'm excited to get back out to the racetrack with both my toys at some point. I'm also trying to convince my wife that her next car needs to be an AUDI RS6 Avant. (Almost there...)

My dream...

I really hope that this comes to fruition.

Hello, I'm new here to the GTiR world.
I'm looking for one for sale, and then planing to sell my car and use the pulsar as my DD.

So unfortunately, no GTiR for me.

I'm into Autocross, Lapping and Snowcross. I want something reliable, cheap and fast, and the GTiR fits the bill perfectly. Most parts are outsourced easily from previous or newer Nissans, and my family in europe has access to sunny junkyards!

I'd love to get to know more about the car, what are common problems, issues.
How hard is it to convert to LHD(for quebec), Could I get a sunny dash brought over?

Thanks for any and all imput guys!

I'm Al from the GTA.

Like Benno, I was at Mosport a few weeks ago and saw two Pulsars at the Mazdee's track day.  I've driven VW Rabbbits, Golfs & Corrados and a couple Honda EF Si cars.   I currently have a Honda Civic Si EP3.

Anyhow, I was thinking about getting another older Civic Si or an early edition VW Scirocco, that was until I saw those two GTi-Rs.  So, I'm looking for one now...so I'm trying to get as much information as possible on these cars.  Especially a detailed buyer's guide for these cars.

So, is there anywhere specific I should try to find one of these cars?  I'm really hoping to find one in the Toronto area...
