idle is to rich, got black smoke

Hello. Did a tune up. Royal purple, bkr7 ngk plugs etc. Now the wide band after couple of days after tune up is reading 10 on idle. Check my tps, volt was on .48. The timing, not sure where it need to be or the number. But anyway the car was running "fine" and took it to dyno and did 255whp at 16 psi. But today i started to check everything again. Move tps and ignition to,see the numbers and got nothing. Put tps at .50 now and ignition where it was and car still running rich and was also running with some kind of misfiring...whats going on here. Anyone knows?

base timing is 20°

you should check if there's a vacuum leak somewhere, maybe you unplugged a hose while you were doing your tune-up or your oxygen sensor is going bad. you should also check your knock sensor. 10:1 is a really bad air/fuel ratio on idle...

hello 666. question, i got nistune and nissan data scan 1.4, they show tps, )2, timing etc but how do i know the timing is on 20? the knock sensor and 02 were replaced already by my brother, brand new. i got no vacuum leaks, at least i hear none. is it with the ignition that i can get a 20 degrees timing? can u look at pic and guide me.

with the idle at 950-1000rpm on it's operating temperature (hot) it should be right on 20° and stay there until you rev it higher. it's the ignition timing gauge on your pic

you should also check if your MAF is playing within 1-1.5 volts on idle and around 4 volts on full load, a bad MAF can also cause this kind of problem but it's sometimes hard to diagnose it if your don't have a working spare

also recheck your spark plug if you have the correct gap. if your problem comes from when you did your tune-up there's a good chance it comes from something you did.

ill check again the gaps, the timing and maf. but i already swap maf. and same thing or at least it felt the same. ill check all this things asap. for now i need to go sleep :-D 0448 here...oh i also notice how this time the car reached 20psi without me changing the setting on the boost controller. so got to put that timing on the right number and the plugs gap etc.

I suggest you to check the vacuum lines for the wastegate actuator if you didn't play with the settings on your boost controller, by your symptoms it's more about a air leak somewhere and checking for cracked hoses is sometimes a nightmare.

I don't see anything unusual in your pictures.

You said you changed the spark plugs, what did you used ? Copper, platinum or iridium ? If copper what gap did you set them ?

Also when you did your tune-up what exactly in detail did you change ?

Wazzup. Well i did oil, plugs brk7 iridium ngk, new pcv valve cause it didnt had one, and the 4 little hoses thing wasnt on either. I noticed last night some diff when i swap the maf from,my other gtir. Idle is not at 10 like crazy. It numbers are actually better, still i see a bit of low ones but no on 10.00, so im guessing the maf could be an issue. Also would like to swap O2 sensor to see if tberes any diff. Had to change plugs again but now i got bkr6 ngk...

I thought mechanical timing was different from the electrical timing (ecu) ... what your seering on your software is the ecu timing, not the mechanical timing,

But anyway if the problem wasnt present before and that you didnt touch your timing, that's not the problem.
