Hi guys,
So I think my starter has bit the dust. My alternator is working fine and my battery is full of juice, I've just been stuck push starting my car this week since nothing happens when I turn the key, not even a click, although the random time it will start fine (like 1 in 5). Anyway I'm looking for any advice on how to get to the starter and once I do what the best thing to do with it is, like get it rebuilt or buy a new one.

A rebuild at a local professional auto-electric specialist shop is what i'd try because it might be just as fast as shipping and no core fee hassels if you can provide your own core.

When my starter motor went, I went to the local alternator shop and they had the parts I needed. I took the starter apart, and found the field brushes were worn out. The starter itself was fine, but just needed a new set of field brushes. $13 later and about 1/2 an hour of my own time, and the starter worked brand new. (Can't remember how long it took to take out and put back in though. The rebuild I did was easy.

Thanks guys. Well I've spent most of today working on it and the starter still isn't out. Nissan couldn't have made it more of a pain in the ass if they tried. Its just removing one thing to get to another bracket to remove another bracket and it goes on lol, with everything having the most awkwardly placed bolts to unscrew.
Welcome to Nissan. Of all the Japanese manufacturers I've worked on they seem to be the most difficult. On the other hand, they make the most fun cars of all the Japanese manufacturers.

Maybe there is another method by temporarily loosening and shifting a motor mount and/or ??

I got it out finally this morning following the instructions in the workshop manual from the link you provided. It was tight and awkward but it definitely can be done without removing the intake manifold. I did consider it though but once I started thinking about gaskets I said screw it.
BTW, for anyone else doing this, I went to partsource today to get a starter from a `93 sentra se-r or infiniti g20 (same thing) and it looked different in that its bracket had a bit of a nose and the gear that's supposed to turn the flywheel had 8 teeth instead of 9. The 1.6 sentra starters looked the same. Anyway I wasn't sure about buying it and it would have been $200ish so I'm just going to get my original rebuilt.
Here's the procedure adapted from the manual pdf minus the other stuff.
