Brakes and related parts

Ok i think we need a thread on brakes and related parts so we all know for a fact what is interchangable. i ordered rear disks for a 91 NX2000 and they were not even close. i measured my rear disk and it comes in at 10 inches. So i think in terms of rotors pads and bearings lets have one topic that has this information. Please post only if you have actually used these parts on your car. If and when possible also try and post part numbers and store where you bought these parts. i am hoping that if we have all this info in one post that people will be able to get there cars back on the road as soon as possible. Thanx. ( BTW i still need rear disks really badly as i have shattered one and the other is worn way past safe)

rear discs are unique to the gti-r. go through nissan. try steve solange at abby nissan. he can get them for u.
the jdm/europe nx2000 has the larger 10inch rear brakes. the north american one doesn't. i still think these cannot work on a gti-r b/c of a different hat height. they have completely different part numbers in Fast.

front brakes are identical to an nx2000 with abs. they're the ad22vf brakes. same rotors, calipers, pads, lines.
meaning any front kit for a b13/nx2000 will work.
you can get front big brake kits through www.fastbrakes.com

i have checked the hat height on the N200 brakes and they are different. the only problem with going thru steve at abby nissan is that u pay thru the ass. but i guess i got no choice.

Posted: Sat, 05/10/2008 - 10:50am

i've never paid list price through him. you could always try to see if he'll do a group discount. kuz eventually everybody's gonna need a set of rear rotors. if we buy it all at once maybe he'll give a good price.

anyways you could try machining down a wheel spacer and tucking it behind the rotor. I'm not sure what the difference in hat height is. or you could grind down the caliper mounting bracket to space the caliper in. but all this work for an extra few bucks for the correct rotor probably isn't worth your time.

Posted: Sat, 05/10/2008 - 11:28am

no i dont think it will be worth the effort. i do have a friend in the uk that can get them as well. he is goin to check on new pricing for me. i also have a friend in nz that is looking ointo it as well. postage will be killer but at least our dollar is worth more lol.and i am down for a group buy if anyone else is interested. i will talk to steve today if he is working. i have to go to abby anyhow. i will post later and let u guys know what i come up with.

Posted: Sat, 05/10/2008 - 12:02pm

why wouldnt u just go through nissan? u don't have to pay shipping or duty or exchange or pay pall fees or bank transfers

Posted: Sun, 05/11/2008 - 1:36am

going thru nissan is relly pricey but it looks like i might have too.

Posted: Sun, 05/11/2008 - 11:44am

just curious how much you were quoted per rotor?

Posted: Sun, 05/11/2008 - 9:22pm

i havnt been qouted yet ill update as soon as i know

Posted: Sat, 05/17/2008 - 8:53am

i ordered rear rotor through my local nissan dealer...$75 each and took about 1 week to come in but no extra shipping or brokerage to worry about. part numbers for rear discs are 43206 54C03 they will change up to a usdm part number on your dealers fast system.

Does anyone have the part number for the replacement pads from Nissan?

Posted: Sun, 05/25/2008 - 7:45pm

all the part numbers should be in teh pdf file in teh thingy on the home pag, for the rear you can use etxended bolts and a spacer, but then again why not upgrade all 4 to a nice kit?

Couldn't find the number for the pads on there. Anyone know it? I'd get a new kit but I haven't got the cash and I need to fix this one brake as fast as possible.

Posted: Tue, 05/27/2008 - 3:07pm

you just need a D540 style pad. order one from a p10 infiniti g20. its the same thing, why are u ignoring the others advice for?

Posted: Tue, 05/27/2008 - 11:30pm

I've installed new pads and rotors on the front, those were easy.
I've replaced the pads in the rear but those were a little harder to find the right size. I did them last summerso I can't remember what car they came off of exactly. I want to say a 93ish Sentra.
If anyone tries to bleed thier brakes and you need new bleeder valves they do NOT come from a 93 sentra. I still don't have the correct size of those.

Now what I need to know is that is there a car here that have the same rear caliper as our cars? I think one of mine is seized.

infinity g20 pad fit on the rear brake
caliper also fit

the only thing very hard to find is the disc.. ( i never found any that fits)

Posted: Wed, 06/11/2008 - 4:02pm

Just so you know, rear rotors are ±80$ a piece at Nissan.

Other than that you could get a NX2000 ABS disc, but you will need a 10mm spacer between the rotor and the spindle, and 10mm longer studs. (the NX2000 rotor hat is 10mm deeper than the GTIR)

Posted: Fri, 06/13/2008 - 12:55pm

is there a master cylinder that we can use on the i think mine is toast. i am losing all my brake fluid and there is not a spot under the car at all. no idea where it is goin. so i think i need a new master cylinder. what interchanges? anything or am i screwed on that part as well? lol.

Posted: Sat, 06/14/2008 - 7:20am

check were the pushrod for the master cylinder goed thru the firewall to see if the fluid is leaking out the rear master cylinder seal..if it is the you will need a new master. i9 thing an infiniti g20 or nx200 uses the same master but i'm not sure.

the nx2000 rear brake is not very a good thing..

the brake setup will become a floating disc and is more likely to break because it will be sitting on 4 stud and nothing else.
i wouldn't not put my brake system dangerous like this ,,

i cant see it being that much different. when i took my brakes off the car there was nothing holding it on. besides the rotor would be tightly help by the wheel. same as it is without the spacer. i could be wrong just my 2 cents

Posted: Thu, 06/19/2008 - 3:51pm

my crx had the same set up as above, even witht eh type r in it i never had problem

How did you guys manage to move the piston back? I tried turning it with needlenose pliers but it wouldn't budge.

Posted: Thu, 07/03/2008 - 12:34pm

try a wide wood chisel or similar to try to turn it.

Posted: Thu, 09/04/2008 - 8:40am

Partsource had a tool for $15 that is specifically for turning brake pistons. So I picked that up and finished the brakes fairly easily.

EDIT: If anyone is looking for this tool to work on their brakes, check out princess Auto. They sell it for like $5.

if your in a pinch using a clamp creatively almost always works to push down the piston... but princeess auto or the like cary an inexpensive clamp that works WAY better..as posted above

Posted: Tue, 09/30/2008 - 11:34am

Anyways like i previously mentioned, you can get the front pads from an nx2000 with abs and the rear pads from a p10 infiniti g20.

This the part number of the front disk that fit my car.

Mine is a 1990... should be able to x-ref it to find out what north american models it fit... from there, get the pads for the same car...

right click and save to see the whole thing... not sure why the thread cropped the photo.

Napa number 48-86280

the fronts as mentioned come from an nx2000 with abs

GREAT

did you happen to have the number for the front pads?

i'm sure some googling will get that for you.

the front caliper is an ad22vf caliper using a d549 style pad. make sure you select nx2000 with abs. however i've read you can use a 95 mitsu eclipse/talon pad. http://www.sr20forum.com/autocross-rally-racing/192087-ad22vf-pad-options.html http://www.ctbrakes.com/pads/nissan.html http://www.buybrakes.com/axxis/apps-Nissan.html http://www.buybrakes.com/ebc/pad-apps-Nissan.html http://www.sr20-forum.com/suspension/1468-street-pads-ad22vf.html

Posted: Sat, 11/01/2008 - 9:18am

cursory search of the garage turned up no empty pad boxes... must have tossed it. try www.rockauto.com, look up the nx2000 or the sentra that I got my parts for. Should give you the numbers you are looking for.

I will update fitment once they arrive.

EDIT: Fitment confirmed on both of the above.
