RWD conversion

hey just wondering how to convert the awd trans to rwd or even change the distribution of power to like 30-70, or 20-80? i am thinking of having a rwd trans that i can throw in for a summer or whatever do some driftin then switchin it back later on i think it'd be fun. anyways any info (step by step) is very much appreciated, mockery or negative comments are not necessary. thanks again! Ben

try gtiroc or nissangtir i believe one guy from new zealand did it. lot of work , trial n error, probably cheaper to buy an s13 with more reliability.

I've seen torque converters, not really sure how much, i didnt really pursue it. Its probably a pretty expensive thing to do for just a summer. The car's quicker awd anyways, although watching a gti-r drift would be quite the sight...

who says a gti-r can't drift? it just requires more work to get it to, correct suspension/tire setup, lots of induced weight transfer, and a lot of power. Altho its an understeering, awd drift towards the curb.

haha ok thanks for the comments, ps i thought the awd trans would just break if u beat on it drifting? i thought they were weak trannys????

Why don't you just cap off the front diff. Or get another diff and weld shut. Worked on the evos they used in F&F tokyo drift. They just went trought tie rods like crazy.

I can't see the center diff handling that too well there's no biasing controls that Iknow of,, it's just a viscous coupleing.. with 30/70 split to the front right?

as for mad dorrriiffftooo you need a clutch kick scndanavian flick and some good front brakes with less than ideal biasing to the front.. and lots o revlimiter

Obviously its not as easy as it sounds but is possible. It would be easier to try just removing the axles than to go all out custom. How efective would it be???? If you've got the ched for a custom set up like you're looking into than why not try taking out the front axles. Might work might not. I'm no expert on these matters but it sounds doable.

you have to weld the front diff i know that much

Just my opinion, but it sounds like a ridiculous amount of money and time for a car that is MEANT to be AWD. Like Nick said, you'd be better off buying a 180SX or Silvia, throw a crap load less moola at it and drift reliably... if that's what you're after.
