Need help fast. Speedo

I have my dash apart and pulled my speedo out. I am assuming the speedo is run electricly and not by a cable. My speedo was bouncing before and just stopped working so I decided to pull it apart and check it out. Now that I have it all apart im not sure what I should do.

I had a similar problem, except with my tach. It would jump around and read too high at times, and now it just stays pinned all the time. I've got the dash apart, but there isn't anything obviously wrong with the connectors in the back of the instrument cluster.

I did notice that there are two wires coming out of the back of the cluster that had pull-apart fittings in them. ( a red with black stripe, and a blue with black stripe.) Is it the same on yours, or was this done by the previous owner? (That is, if you don't mind looking)

The only thing I can think of is to get a new cluster and see if the problem is fixed. I don't know what kind of voltage or signal is sent to the tach or the speedo to monitor engine speed and road speed. Also, where would the sensors be located?

Blow all the dust off of it, and wipe it with socks... it worked wonders on the ol' Nintendo Entertainment System.
