Walbro upgrade? Fuel lines bursting?
Hi all,
Just looking for some opinions here. I've been considering a 255 walbro fuel pump as an upgrade mainly for better responsiveness and to have the option of running higher boost. Anyway, searching around the forum I've found mention of the higher pressure bursting fuel lines which makes me a little hesitant. What are the odds of this happening and how tough of a job is it to fix if it does happen (worst case scenario)?

I installed a Wlabro pump, and new fuel filter 40000km ago and still have yet too have any issues... replace any old rotten clamps or damaged hoses and you should be just fine.
So many unsuspecting victims... So little time.
No problems here, I've put on about 8000kms since the swap. I think the chance of fuel lines bursting really depends on the condition of the car. If it looks like it's been sitting outside (particularly in bad weather) for most of it's lifespan and you've already noticed some metal corrosion / rubber decomposition on the car, then there's definitely a higher chance your hoses could pop. I think most people haven't had any problems, though.
All go, no show
I've also had zero problems since changing mine last summer or in 2008... From what I read though if something does burst it can be a real bitch to get at and replace. I'd say just keep ur fingers crossed. If ur rust free/good condition r then don't worry too much.
Also, I'd definitely look into re-earthing the new pump etc as is posted over at gtiroc to get the full benefits. I've been meaning to get around to this.
which walbro pump do we need for the gtir?
should be no problem, had my walbro for 5 years on my sentra and 2 years on the r- no problems. check all your hoses if you're hesitant, remember that most of the r's on the board are over 20 yrs old
well I installed mine yesterday ... the line under the fuel filter bursted ... piss me off
