HKS all the way

Posted: Thu, 02/14/2008 - 7:07pm

NGK iridiums
stock power n boost BKR7EIX-11
if you're running about 1.0 bar and 300hp roughly, use heat range 8. BKR8EIX-11

hks plugs are expensive and known to have their tips to be burnt out

i use the ngk iridium heat range 8...the car had heat range 6's in it when i got it and it was running really hot...it was alot happier with the heat range 8's in it.

im sure there is no problem with hks plugs...as long as u have the correct heat range i am pretty sure u can run whatever you want lol.

I'm using the stock PFR7B-9 in mine, work great at 14psi

Posted: Sun, 03/16/2008 - 9:50am

BKR7EIX-11 -> 6988 tell this to a part store and they will find them.
the best deal i had was on ebay.

that's the only one i know ..

this is a newbbb ? but are the plugs pre gapped

Posted: Sat, 06/21/2008 - 7:20am

usually they are but i always check em anyway to be sure.

Posted: Sat, 06/21/2008 - 7:10pm

OK WHAT IS THE GAP AND DID YOU GET THESE PLUGS FROM CRAPPY TIRE CAN NOT FIND THEM THERE

Posted: Sat, 10/04/2008 - 5:15pm

BKR7(or 8)EIX-11 is a 1.1mm gap. The -11 signifies gap. Probably ok for stock trim. Run 0.8mm for 1+BAR, tuned type stuff. BCPR7eix is the same plug, but JIS length, which is just short of ISO length, basically interchangeable.

Do you really need to run Iridium's? At the price of a box of ten BKR7E NGK standard copper plugs(32.00$/Box), doesn't it make sense to just change them more often and save a few bucks? I think I would rather have new plugs in every month or 2 for 15$ for the set than drop 50-60 bucks a pop for 4 and hope they actually last the 6 months. What kind of plugs are the originals?

Also Apex-i Plugs are a good choice. If you really wanna spend some money on them you could always use Greddy Black Box plugs lol. bout 100 bucks a plug.

noob question: but what spark plug removal tool do you use and
do you guys torque it to spec or just tighten enough.

Posted: Tue, 02/17/2009 - 9:54am

i use a torque wrench on nearly everything, and i use a crappy tire motomaster spark plug tool. was like 5$ on sale. I don't index my plugs, but i guess you could if you're looking for every little hp.

i use denso irridiums ik22

Car wasn't starting so I replaced the spark plugs.
This is how they looked when I took them out today.
Well my car is running rich so they smell highly of gas,and the second one from the left has a bit of oil on it. Should I expect a rebuild soon?
Will do a compression test this weekend.

in the winter , you can go whit heat range 6 or 5 ..

its will be easier to start , and have a lot more heating on idle because the EGT went up by 100 degre F on my car

ill put heat range 8 for summer again

might not be a headgasket, could be a bad ring or maybe u have oil leaking in from the spark plug well gasket.

Hey guys,

Just took my spark plugs out and three of them have that orange colour around the ceramic. The remaining one looks like new. no coloration at all. The coil that's connects to this one seems wet with gas.

Am i right saying that the "non-orange" is not working properly? What could be causing this? Fuel consuption is really bad at the moment. Already have 4 new spark plugs to fit in. SHould i also replace the coil pack while i'm at it?

Thanks

i went and bought some Bosch iridium 4+ with the 4 grounds around. I got the part number for a VG30dett and the ngk plug was a cross reference number so I am quite sure it will be fine. I let you know how they are. they were ~ 40$ for a set.

Posted: Thu, 04/02/2009 - 7:34pm

so i passed the emmission test with my car reverted back to stock boost and the catalytic converter back on the car, the bosch plugs worked well on that setup. I try to push the boost back to 15 psi and it sputter like a mofo, either deto or I blow the spark out or something. I need to get some better colder new plugs that fit well with higher boost. I'll be selling the plugs to someone who doesnt boost for super cheap, they costed me 50$, I sell for 20$!

Trini, what is the part number on those plugs? They look to be surface gap style, I often wondered if they would work well in a turbo car...

You could have got a set of iridium's for under 40$ from lordco, or the copper bcr8es for like under 20$.

Posted: Thu, 04/23/2009 - 5:38am

I changed my spark plugs yesterday and what the old owner was using were a set of BKR6EIX-11 so i went off and bought the same thing, which seems to be fine so far, but as i was replacing the sparkplugs the number 4 plug was oily just like the oily spark plug that Trini had,,, is that okay?

Posted: Thu, 04/23/2009 - 7:02am

just talk to Robin almasi a guy un montreal who tune nissan for a long time.

he told me that iridiums plug doesn't work well on turbocharged cars. he doesnt tune the cars if there is iridium spark plug in .

he say that copper plug are better for turbo aplication.

im just saying what he told me .

btw they were $8.83 each and free shipping on orders over $75.
