Radiator

So last week I was taking my car for a test drive after fixing a seized rear brake. I stopped on the side of the road to check the wheels for excessive heat. After finding none I hopped back in the car and just before I took off I noticed steam coming out of the hood scoop (looks kind of cool actually).
I popped the hood to find out the my rad was leaking from top where the aluminum meets the plastic end cap. Since I was only ~2km from home I just topped the rad with water and limped it home.
After taking the rad out (it's really easy) I took it to a rad shop in town. The guy said it was fucked and he'll try and find me a new one. I told him what I drove and pretty much told him he has no hope in hell finding a new one because my car is so rare. I told him if anything the closest thing that might fit would be from an NX 2000 2.0L or a 91-93 sentra. He called me back the next day telling me that he found the last one in stock in Edmonton.
Now he didn't tell me exactly what car it's from (cause he's kind of a dick and knows I was right) but I'm sure it's from a 91-93 sentra.

Now the rad itself. the GTi-R rad is about a half inch thick POS that looks like it couldn't cool a 1.0L engine in the winter let alone 2.0l of turbocharged fury (lol). The new rad is twice as thick, mounts on the EXACT same spots including both fans. the only difference are the inlet and outlets. They have a smaller diameter by approx 5-7mm. All I needed to do was to slip on a 1 1/4 piece of hose over the inlet/outlet for the stock hoses to fit.
I haven't fired it up yet because I've been busy at work but I should be doing the tomorrow.

So overall I have a Canadian made GTi-R rad replacement the fits and will probably cool better than stock.
If anyone wants pics or more info post away.

Just to be clear you put on some 1 1/4 tubing on the inlet/outlet and then put the stock hoses over top? I would recommend changing the set up you have there. Once the heat comes up the pressure constantly tries to push the hoses off. The "bump" on the inlet outlet stops this from happening because the hose clamp decreases the diameter and traps the hose in place. with two hoses there I doubt the hose will hold it in place.

I just finished building a GTiR for a client and we put in a full race aluminium rad from a 91 Sentra SE-R (got it at Cool Direct) and with a few changes to the fan mounts it dropped right in but the inlet outlet was all wrong as well. I cut the stock hose and used an step down adapter in the rad hoses

Just a thought...it may work

Ya that's what I did. Recommended by that rad shop guy himself.
My other option would be to wait weeks, if not months for a rad from Nissan/Japan that would end up costing probably 3x as much.
If it leaks I'll buy t-bolt clamps and use a couple on each hose.

just an FYI (something i learned last summer), if you ae looking for rad hoses, the G20 and NX2000's are different. the top hose is the same, however the lower hoses on the DE's dont have that bend that clear the turbo

just get a smco hose kit for the pulsar off a ebay. then u dont have to worry about the wrong hoses. also in the uk there are some aluminum rads on ebay from time to time. or just ask on that forum and see what someone can find. a little more cash but at least u would have a better rad.

I totally forgot about those hoses on ebay. I remember seeing them on there a while ago.

I still think this rad will be better than the stock one due to the doubling of thickness.

Someone on the RHDQuebec forum had ordered one from a NX2000 but the inlet/outlets were too small. Then he went to a rad shop and ordered one from a G20 and tadam! Same inlet/outlet size, but he said something about it being just a tad bit higher but it still fits in place perfect.
