Problem shifting gear when engine runs
I'm looking to buy a GTI-R from a friend and I would like to have your advice on a shifting problem. Yesterday I took the car for a test drive and I could hardly put the car into gears when running... I managed to start it with first gear engaged but the problem was still there when trying to get into the other gears. I was thinking about the pedal clutch housing going out... Sometimes I heard a little grinding noise when releasing the clutch pedal and I tought it could be the release bearing. Slave and master cylinder have been changed this summer!! Thank you for your help!!

It's most likely your pressure plate/clutch, release bearing or the clutch fork. Either one or more fingers on the pressure plate have broken, the clutch fork has been known to wear out on the pivot point or springs on the clutch has broken. Very hard to tell without taking it apart.
I'll check that tonight... I'm doubting it could be the pedal itself since the pedal is not hard to push down and you can feel the gear.. Thanks for your help!!
when the master and slave cyls were changed, were they bled properly?

they were changed in mid-august.. they were bled properly. The problem started about 1 month ago...
I forgot to mentioned, I managed to take a ride with it just after I tried to start it in first gear. I was able to shift all the gears but not at all speed and sometimes some of them would'nt go in...
you clutch is not diesengaging fully. Or your input shaft bearing is so worn that it is causing selection issues.
Thanks for your help guys! The seller already had the bracket to solve the clutch pedal problem... I adjusted the master cylinder and it helped a little bit... I'm now thinking that the input shaft bearing is the major problem because it is really hard to "fin" the gear when trying to shift...
you would notice the input shaft bearing because there would be fluid coming out of the drainage hole in the bellhousing where it meets the block.
