Power estimates.

I used to Have an Eagle Talon TSi AWD. Easy to make big power with just a few mods. I am curious as to average power ratings with moderate mods. What are some HP#s have guys been making with the GTiR. Also, do these cars take well to mods?

Thanks

Yes, they do. I'm probably at 270-280 right now. No awd dyno to test it but i think thats probably about it. They're really quick for the hp right off the hop too.

270hp, not whp. Thats just a guess though. I have fmic, walbro 225lph fuel pump, boosting at 15psi, intake, 3 inch downpipe/decat. I really have no clue how to judge hp. But stock is 230, is it reasonable to be thinking 270-280 with these mods?

the list in the chart below shows a gtir with 1 bar tune about that hp
http://www.letstorquebhp.com/4wd.asp?sort=QtrMile_Secs

Nissan Sunny/Pulsar GTi-R (Tuned 1Bar) yr 91
280 hp 1220kg 233.19 bhp/tonne
4.37 0-60
11.73 0-100
7.36 60-100
13.09 1/4mile@ 105.62mph

stock is 220/230 hp
5.42 0-60
15.26 0-100
9.84 60-100
14.20 1/4mile@ 96.45

I used a gtech accelerometer device some years back for hp torque 0-60 1/4 and 60-0 braking. Never will agree with a timeslip because of the way it calculates but it was a useful tool.

I got dyno'd at 183whp and 164 ft/lb of torque. But apparently this dyno is under rated even the owner of the shop says so too. It was done on a mustang dyno. The mods I had at the time are k&n intake, custom 3 inch downpipe, de cat, kakimoto exhaust, running 12 pounds of boost. But since then I got a wideband controller, new plug wires, cap and rotor, and running 15 pounds of boost so I want to see what gains I've gained from there. But they estimated it was roughly 250 hp to the crank at 183whp.

So it is safe to say that they make good power with a few mods done to the right place.

Thanks

according to the scanned sheets at gtiroz
typically seeing on 14-16psi around 140-160kw which is approx 188 - 215hp.. i am guessing wheel hp

get the engine breathing right and make sure its safe (re: fuel vs boost is adequate) then have at it.

^^ Mustang dynos always underate by like 20%

as some one has worked on many DSM's I can say these motors take to the same style mods just as well without the DSM Idle hunter syndrome and fuel cut... and the timing belt won't go :D
