HELP ! What clutch kit and flywheel are you guys running ?
Which clutch kit and flywheel setup are you guys running ?
The previous owner of my car installed a stage 3 Competition Clutch clutch kit and flywheel from a SR20DET RWD and now, the clutch just slips.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks .
- Billy

Assuming it's on a gtir then a GTir Fly wheel and a clutch from a 94 maxima should work
Personally I have an Excedy six puck,, works fine for me although Im a little forgiving to pedal feel.
Mine isn't bigger than yours.. I just like to drive
What reputable company sells a flywheel for the GTI-R ?

BOTTLES ARE FOR BABIES.. REAL MEN GET BLOWN
Spec has one too.
clutch and flywheel.. os giken super single
The rwd/fwd sr20det clutches are interchangeable, but I have no Idea about the flywheel. If spacing off the crank is different, that could be your problem. If you can contact the guy who did the clutch, ask him if he used the throw out bearing that came with the rwd clutch, They do not interchange from rwd to fwd(they might fit but could be holding the clutch part way in). Could be a rear main seal too, just a few ideas to take into account.
Drive it like you stole it
ahhh throw out bearing would make sense....

ACT makes GTI-R clutch kits (pressure plate, clutch disc, pilot and release bearings) NS5-HDSS (street disc, rated 370lbs) is what I'm using on my summer Pulsar, and NS5-HDG6 (6 pucks, rated 4xx lbs) on my all season Pulsar. All RWD and AWD SR20DET clutches disc and pressure plates are interchangeable, FWD are smaller. The flywheel is unique to GTIR and I'm not aware of any company who's selling aftermarket flywheels for our cars.

^^ yep. i just ordered the same clutch for my car.
i used the NM1-HDSS (nissan maxima) which is identical to the NS5 kit

Anyone gone this route for changing the clutch?

Only Chuck Norris can own a GTi-R. The GTi-R owns everybody else.
Bully stage 3 for me (6 puck). The clutch plate and pressure plate are the same as for an sr20 sylvia however the throwout bearing is different.

Fidanza makes an Alum flywheel for our cars. I have a Ebay stage 3 clutch and PP and a fidanza fly. Holds 15 psi and a low 13 1/4. Put 5000 on it already, no signs of slipping. If anything it grabs harder now than before.
The flywheel seems to be unique not to gti-r but to all jdm SR20DET(according to Fidanza application chart). Just ordered the NS5-HDSS ACT Clutch and Fidanza flywheel... Not looking forward to the install(and I have a hoist and air tools)
So many unsuspecting victims... So little time.

it really is a pita !!... been there twice and no fun at all ... first time was a twin OS giken clutch second was a stock unit... both i did take the whole thing out to have space enough and free of mind of doing it right... not sure i would just take the tranny off while engine in the car... seem like a hard time anyway with the transfer shaft going throu
I'm gonna drop it all down, gonna do my timing chain and guides and all the hoses on the back of the motor. I am in the process of just waiting for all the parts to arrive, bad time of year for fast postage but what can ya do. The only advantage I have is a fully equipped shop and lots of help if needed. Gonna try and pull it off on my weekend off, Will have 2 days from 7am-6pm to at least get it mobile enough to get it off my hoist so I can make some $ on Monday. I have high expectations of pulling it off, but Murphy can and sometimes gets ya good.

from underneat it is really doable !!... took around 25hr my first time and the second took about 14hr to make it !! :) had a lift at the shop then, dropped the engine on a small table en then we lifted the car ... was really forward :)
I've taking the whole thing out both times i have done mine. So much easier, and it gives you access to tons of other stuff to check up on.
fwiw: to save servicing time in competition, the NME. rally manual shows a split shaft modification for the transfer box, it requires some gear modifications. NME TF 0A/41C
Good point on having a good look while it's all out, like removing some bits and replacing others hard to get at normally.
Noticed anything "funny" with the exchange rates and parts prices lately:
