Fuel pump help!!!

okay so my fuel pump is starting to go. whenever i give it lots of gas it sputters and feels like the fuel is being cut off. i got passed by a mustang. wasn't too impressed.. So i was wondering if they're is a fuel pump and fuel filter that i can get from lordco or crappy tire off some other nissan. Im just looking for a stock replacement. Not the walbro 255 upgrade. Anyone know of ones that would be a match?

its pretty much the same price for a stock fuel pump as it is to upgrade to the walbro. in my opinion why wouldnt you upgrade. even if you dont plan on doing other mods, it never hurts.

alright i might just do that. I just dont know where i could order it from and not have a 50$ shipping fee. but as for the fuel filter do you have any idea what i should get for that?

I used the 300 zx dett fuel filter ,works and its big enough thats for sure.Id try that before buying a pump its worth a shot.

you have to drop the tank to change the pump btw

If you going to be down there replace all the lines that are unreachable when the tank is in.

I cheaped out and left one line that looked good ,regretted it 10 mins after start up.

Are you positive it's your fuel pump? It's always a good ideea to upgrade the pump, but you should check your plug gap, might be blowing it out if it's too big.

you don't have to drop the tank to change the pump,

you go in via behind the back seat. takes about an hour to hour and a half to change if you work slowly.

Just don't put the positive on the negative, and the negative on the positive. Then it takes 3 hours.

okay thanks for the help! ill try that fuel filter idea first cuz i dont wanna deal with the pump. so is the fuel filter by the tank or underneath the hood. i never really looked to much into it yet. sorry if thats a dumb question. Oh! and will the lines be the same size as the outlets on the 300zx filter or will i have to change stuff up to get it to fit?

Dude, the access is point is in the hatch.undo 6 bolts to take the metal cover off.unplug the fuel sender harness and unplug the Fuel pump harness.unclamp and unplug 3 hoses.spin the lid.then pull the top off.stick your hand in the tank and pull teh pump from its base.take apart the cup that the pump is in.unplug harness off of pump.unplug hose from pump take off sock.then do it in reverese to install.my 2 year old can figure this out,and you dont need to drop your tank

U should be able to get a walbro from lordco no prob. and no shipping. tell them to ship it from abbotsford. ive dealt with lordco in castlegar and they shipped me what i needed from another store no prob. and just use an account with a levl7 discount or ask someone that works there to give u there discount. most dont care. they were pretty good to deal with when i went in there.

May I suggest a fuel pressure guage and a scanner in which you can read data... Most people assume they have a fuel pump problem, when in fact they do not. Been there done that, and so have many others. Had a stutter/hesitation - suspected: fuel pump, put in a Warlbro - susp:ignition, new cap/rotor/wires/ngk bkr7's and set the ignition timing - susp: plugged cat, replaced with high flow - susp: Maf, cleaned and inspected voltage/ok - Replaced t-stat as was not getting hot enough, didn't help either...Turned out to be the O2 sensor pinned rich... solved all my hesitation issues. Moral is don't waste money before getting the right equipment to diagnose properly. I bought a snap on mt-2500 not too long ago and it has been worth it's weight in gold. My car ran better each time I did each one of those repairs but was still not the root problem, once I could see datastream it was fixed in a day.

k so the plugs looked pretty new (they are bosch platinum plus) so i gapped them to .030" and the issue is basically gone but i still feel it a very little bit. almost unnoticeable. time for new wires maybe? i can get some bosch ones for a G20 for 60 bucks with lifetime warranty.

I 2nd whosyourgtir76's opinions. Don't go assuming anything quite yet. A GTI-R will have the 14 pin Grey DLC Consult connector if you want to monitor data. In addition to watching fuel pressure, you could also 'scope' the pump to see if you've got a burnt out segment.

I just bought some Beckarnley premium plug wires for a g20. Those wires are like an inch and a half longer then the stock ones.

i had that same problem then the car died in the middle of the street. i got a 255 walbro and an original filter form nissan for cheep and it works really nice, the only problem is i ran rich so i had to get a fpr and get it adjusted and now that little fucker flies

BTW you dont have to drop the tank just take out the trunk liner and youll see the opening on the left for it 1.5h job
