Thats the bad dog i'm getting when i go front mount. I like that because it doesnt come with the intercooler itself, that way i can pick one that isnt 12 inches tall.

Thats a nice kit. But i'm still going with the first one so i can pick the size of the intercooler, . I want one that is maybe 8 inches tall, 12 is so pointless on a car that would never come close to needing that big, and if i can, one that is only 2.5 inches thick, not 3. I wanna preserve as much of the stock bumper as i can.

But you would hardly remove anything from the bumper, http://www.nissangtir.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=7671

You'd only save like .5 inch from the bumper cover.

I held out for a tube and fin intercooler vs. the bar and plate design advertised. Makes an efficiency difference so is said. For an ebay kit with a fmic and piping and clamps etc looking almost identical in the pics I paid delivered to the door via courier ~ $428cdn a couple of months previously. I had to wait a couple of weeks for it to be made and then shipped.

I did 'buy-it-now' for a FMIC kit out of HK and a couple days later was told almost as expected [via email vs. ebay communications]: 'Sorry, we are 'out of stock' you have to wait a while'..'is next week ok?', me: 'sure, i'll send the money when you have them in stock. Let me know when via ebay messages'. All's ok.
['Out of stock' is likely a common ploy .. i'll bet they only build the kit after they have enough money to buy materials to make a few orders at a time].

Anyway, I did wait & was sent an item non-payment notice about a week or so later which was my cue to pay. Paypal'ed supplier, contacted ebay resolutions and explained 'out-of-stock' situation and email messages; supplier then had his GBP's inpocket and removed the non-payment report, kit was verified as shipped, and in several days arrived for pickup all intact.
[I hope it fits!] (btw: thanks for the link to the fmic install link above, nb. especially about cut size of holes necessary, great stuff!
fwiw: the instructions supplied with the ebay kit although workable show a much smaller cutaway for the piping which might make it a pain to install the pipes. The forum article has great detail.)

In deciding to go ahead on the ebay intercooler deal after the 'out-of-stock' email message following the sale, plus some misgivings about what seemed to me like the supplier was trying to shift the deal out of ebay, I looked at the guys ebay record: 99+% and _huge_ volume sales. I had read of this 'out-of-stock' routine before and was prepared to play along. He had multiple other intercooler buyers etc, happy campers all except for some po'd by 'out-of-stock' then reporting 'non-payment'. Most of all what made me decide to go through with it was the 'fin and tube' type intercooler design vs. the 'bar and plate' design. In spite of some intial trepidation it was a +++++ ebay transaction.

Seems like a good price for these pipes listed above.

pics avail. of tube and fin type if req. Both types have advantages; here's a design comparison.
http://hondaswap.com/forced-induction/bar-plate-tube-fin-intercooler-18495/
"Here's where tube fin comes out on top- make the core or the rows slightly larger than the bar and plate to make up the pressure drop difference and you'll have an IC that will flow as well as a bar/ plate, and will cool more efficiently because the rows are seeing more cooling air between them. "

Yes i've read through that article before. But like i said, i want to preserve as much bumper cover as possible. and .5 inches is .5 inches. Hopefully be able to keep some of the verticle pieces.. Plus, really having a big huge intercooler is unnecessary. My bro makes 280whp with his car. intercooler is 2.5x6x18.

look at the costs involved in fitting a different cooler than most of us run.

For instance, I got mine for $300-400 cdn shipped and installed. Why limit yourself off the start by using a smaller cooler? Do you know the differences in pressure loss? Negligable until you started running heaps of boost (30 psi +) and by that time, you should have enough money into the engine to take 30 psi that you can justify spending the money on the better performing core.

There are lots of gtirs running the fleabay kit and making good power with it (re: 400 bhp is not uncommon). as for fitment issues, you can keep all of the vertical pieces, just trim them from the backside so that the core fits.

actually my mistake, you're using the same piping kit as the 3inch intercooler, you'd only be saving .25 inch off the bump about 6mm. depth is lost in both directions not just from the front. you'd have to run a 2inch or less core to actually make a noticable difference.
