flywheel/clutch problems..HELP!!

I have recently put a upgraded bluebird motor in my gtir. I have been told by the mechanic that worked on my car that they put a ""normal"" sr20det flywheel to match my new sr20det ""clutch"". will the changing of all these make it so the teeth on my starter dont match up with my gtir starter ? or extending too far or something? would a bluebird starter or se-r starter fix this problem?? cause i really dont wanna rip my tranny off the car.
thanks guys.

i don't know why they would change your flywheel, the bluebird motor is already an sr20det flywheel.

an sr20det flywheel is the same as a gti-r except for the flywheel bolt size

gti-r crank will work with a non gti-r sr20det flywheel if you redrill it to accept the larger bolts

the only thing i can possibly see, i hope is they didn't put in a Front wheel drive flywheel and front wheel drive clutch.  then you have tooth count issue depending on which flywheel they use, plus the clutch is smaller.

i know that they used a normal sr20det clutch, not a gtir clutch. then matched a flywheel to that clutch (even though i told them to redrill the clutch to match). As it stands right now with my starter, it sounds like its just spinning freely, but do you think my starter may be just pooched? or is there a thickness difference in the flywheels at all, where the starter would be shooting past the flywheel. because the mechanic thats working on my car now says that when he pulls the starter back . it catches... I'm clueless.

All SR20DET clutch discs and pressure plates are the same, only the FLYWHEEL changes. So no worries about that part (the SR20DET clutch).
And on the flywheel, the contact surface goes beyond the teeth, so there's no way the starter gear goes too far. Only thing that can happen is that it will hit the flywheel.

Could it be the starter solenoid is not actuating fully; a new solenoid switch might cost around $90 from a local jobber. But that might not fix it yet.

If the solenoid gets its electrical ground source from the starter motor brushes and contacts, and then if these are worn or dirty, not enough magnetic force might be generated to actuate the plunger.
Clean the contacts; or send out for a rebuild as required.
Have you tried having an assistant to Give a tap with a hammer/broomstick on the starter if possible when cranking to jar the motor contacts?, hope that kludge might help get it cranking.

btw: There is a used starter for sale on ebay today [not me etc] good luck

I shimmed the starter allready and nothing, same thing with the whole tapping thing, i think what im going to do is take my chances to replace the starter. i have heard from the mechanic that did the engine swap for me said they had it cranking before they put it outside of the shop, it just needed the injectors(which i bought 480cc injectors). why the starter doesnt crank it anymore makes me clueless.

You might try and check out a commercial auto-electric specialty shop in the area. They may rebuild faster than getting a new part and/or might diagnose the prob. That it did turn over after the build is good news.
fwiw: Starters take the most wear when cranking slowly ie. on a low battery; the parts can't dump the heat fast enough and fail. Wouldn't take long to burn one out cranking especially turning over a tight new engine and might of been it's time. Good luck, hopefully a fast solution and you're on the road soon!
