Custom Oil Plate

GTIR OZ is doing another group order of a custom oil plate that replaces your factory oil filter housing. This would seriously clean up the rear area of the block that's already tight enough anyway, and add the ability to mount a remote oil filter/ cooler.

newer pics: http://www.gtiroz.net/gallery/gtir/misc/mods/oilplate/
old vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DcBDsUs3NY

for people interested - last time these cost $110 aud (currently about the same in cad)
and afaik, the member organising them again doesn't think they will be any more this time (yet tbc)

according to austpost.com.au, air freight for a bulk lot to a single address in canada (with tracking and signature) would be about $60
(or about $15 sent individually by sea)

If interested put your name down, and we'll approach them to see if they are interested in catering to us. I'm thinking shipped to one address, and then out from there will save decent coin if we get a couple people.

Here is a note from Peter of GTIROZ:

I'm sending the parcel with three oil adaptors today.
Can I offer some notes to go along with the pieces....

- there is a new Nissan inner o-ring fitted.
- please run some engine oil over the inside of the centre hole and over the o-ring before pressing it into position.
- this is to help force the o-ring over the centre post on the block. It will be a tight fit with the new o-ring.

- the oil-temp sensor port is on top. It does not need any thread-seal, as it seals on the step at the bottom of the thread.
- the loom connector for the temp sensor may require a short extension. This is easily done using spade-connectors and some good gauge wire.

- the pressure-sensor port is on the side (where the factory oil-cooler assembly would be).
- this is a tapered thread (BSPT) and so does require a thread sealant... use gas-tape (PTFE tape) or something like Loctite 542.

- the main oil linel fittings are AN-8.
- use a fitting with an o-ring boss (ORB) seal. This means there is an o-ring at the top of the male thread which squeezes into the chamfer at the top of the female thread.
- examples of ORB fittings can be seen here.. http://www.goodvibesracing.com/orb_fittings.htm
- there is NO JIC-37 or similar facet at the bottom of the threads to seal. Sealing is via the o-ring on an ORB hose fitting.

- Oil will come out of the engine via the lower (outside) port.
- Oil should go back into the engine via the upper (centre) port.

- if your main outside o-ring is not damaged, it can be re-used.
- otherwise, it should be replaced. The Nissan part number is 15239-54C00.
- it is a GTIR-specific part, so may not be readily available from local Nissan dealers.
- there may be a generic replacement available.

- with disconnecting the factory oil cooler, I recommend blocking off both coolant lines.
- rather than looping them. Reducing unnecessary bypass (cold to hot) is a good thing.

this product is very good quality. although the engineering of it is the worste thing i have ever seen. almost impossible trying to fit this thing. power steer pump is 100% in the way. ps bracket must be customized to fit the fittings and hose ends. i would never install one of these again.

Posted: Tue, 05/31/2011 - 6:40am

in peter's defence - the required 90deg fitting was always part of the install (should have been communicated though)

apparently a limitation of the level of simplification desired...

Posted: Tue, 05/31/2011 - 7:07am

i have 90 an fittings installed. i wasnt bashing the product its self as the qualitywas great. jut the design. there was enough room for farther thought.

Posted: Tue, 05/31/2011 - 8:12am

i guess the straight an fittings i bought won't work then?..... Wasn't that the point of moving the top hole to the left?

Posted: Tue, 05/31/2011 - 8:18am

yeah you might aswell take the straight fittings back. not a chance u wil get thoes in there. also the fitting that screw
into the adapter are to close to each other. had to grind one side
off so the other fitting would turn. oh and good luck tryin to do it with your motor in.

Posted: Thu, 11/03/2011 - 10:55am

I have a surplus of 90 deg bends from -8 ORB to -8JIC(AN)  If anyone needs one let me know.

Posted: Thu, 11/03/2011 - 6:09pm

i've got a 9 x 90deg and a 1 x straight le me know what you want, but you will need one 90 and 1 straight.  They are not swivels so you can't fit 2 90deg.  Cheapet swivel fittings I have found are over 20 bucks a pop.

Posted: Thu, 12/01/2011 - 10:16am

Got mine installed with a remote filter and remote mounted the stock oil cooler.  Check out the size of the filter!

Posted: Thu, 12/01/2011 - 10:29am

nice placement, thats where i wanted to remote mount my filter too, no more oil spilt everywhere removing the filter

Posted: Thu, 12/01/2011 - 4:35pm

that filter gives me 1.3 ltr more oil capacity.  it's from a catapillar engine ;)
