CLUTCH OPTIONS
Been looking for a replacement clutch disk. There are many threads about the topic, and I have read over as many as I could find. No one really has a definitive answer as to what clutches that we can get here will fit our cars.

rwd sr20det clutch will work
rwd sr20det flywheel will work (if you redrill it)
awd sr20det (non gtir) clutch will work
awd sr20det (non gtir) flywheel will work (if you redrill it)
ACT, SPEC, EXEDY all make clutch options. I'm sure there are many other options, why try to make something else fit?
all rwd sr20det and awd sr20det clutches are easily available.
besides ACT sells a gti-r specific clutch http://www.advancedclutch.com/products/search.aspx?keyword=gti-r&search_btn.x=0&search_btn.y=0 ,use the search function. they can also be found for a lot lot less than the listed website price.
as for release bearings i cannot comment
fwd sr20de clutch will not work
fwd sr20de flywheel will not work
I just ordered a 6 spuck sprung Clutch, release bearing, pilot bearing, and alignment tool. All ACT stuff.
$200 with free shipping, and all parts are listed as pulsar GTIR specific. I'll let everyone know how the transaction goes.

They don't do free shipping to Canada, go figure.
They want $100 just to ship it.
do you know anybody state side that you could drive to and pick it up? Get it shipped an american city/town that is close to where you live. Then drive down and pick it up. Some small town stores do this for free, others charge a really small fee and are really good to work with.

$200 bucks? I'm needing to replace my clutch this summer probably, or im gunna have to baby it. I gotta shift slow and easy it in (im assuming its still the stock one in there right now). Im thinking about the stage 2, maybe even stage 2+ from Spec, my brother put a spec in his car and it works amazingly. The stage 2 is 395.00 on specclutch.com, and im assuming there will be some shipping added to that. Also, i agree with Nick, there are plenty of upgrades, or just stock replacements made GTI-R specific, so why try to make something else fit?
Yes there are places that have a GTiR specific clutch. But as shown, sometimes they are not very Canada friendly. That and no one here really knows what a GTiR is anyway. I just thought I would post a cross reference to make finding those parts easier.
i guess, but any parts shop that carries act can get the gti-r clutch. its in the book, heck lordco sells it. its up to you to bring the correct part number to them, relying on someone else just results in mistakes
i got this clutch :

i'll be glad to see what is that 200$ clutch. Let me know, when you change the clutch on a pulsar, don't go cheap. You'll never want to do it again.
my bully is near oem feeling, and is holding hard launch any time.
and they know what is exacly a pulsar, and they provide you direct with the right parts.
os giken twin plate..do it once and do it right..these things last forever.

Agreed!
...but if you don't have the money and want a more inexpensive option as well as my opinion - from my experience this JWT Clutch has been great (not sure who makes the JWT Clutch for JWT). It is a one side metallic one side organic clutch. It has a very light pedal feel but will engage very hard if you want it too. Like most street/race clutches it can chatter at low RPM take off's but you get used to how to deal with that very quickly. I have been running it for over 3 years at all track events and when I drove my car on the street and it is still going strong. Seems to hold up well and is good for 350 LB Torque
Here is a link - part number you are looking for is LMAX9-NC1MD
http://www.mynismo.com/products/?ID=3193
so i think my clutch just blew. either that or the fork is bent preventing it from engaging? i havent had ANY problems with slipping for the last two months.
then today on the higway all of a sudden i hear some squealing and poof. anything more than 5% throttle leads to complete slip. sounds like im for a load of fun.
i see a lot of these "GTiR specific" clutches (eg from JWT or Bully) are the same part number as the S13 RWD SR20DET. however: the stock GTiR clutch is 240mm compared to 225mm for the S13/rwd SR. should I even bother trying to find a 240mm replacement? I noticed ACT use a different part number for the GTiR (NS5) compared to the 180SX/Silvia (NS1). Maybe that one is a true 240mm. thoughts?
-Mike

i bet you're looking at the 240sx ka motor, which is 225mm. sr20det's are 240mm
hmmm interesting. ill have to re-check the FSM! i just called ACT and they said both NS1 and NS5 are 240mm. so i should just get a RWD SR20DET clutch and forget about it?
-Mike

i have the jim wolf technologies clutch and i love it. paid about350 for it
any other options ?
yeah i figured it out
as far as the ACT is concerned, NS1 and NS5 both use the same clutch plate. the difference is the NS5 kit uses the proper release bearing for the GTiR.
good to know
-Mike

Yes the pulsar Release bearing is different than the RWD SR20DET.
Check out this link http://nissan4u.com/parts/info/305020W720/
for a list of possible alternative ordering applications.
Most attractive is the king cab release bearing. According to that catalog, the 08 king cab release bearing fits the GTIR, meaning that any dealer anywhere should be able to get one.
Do you have the part number ? And also, do they have a flywheel ?
305020W720 is the alternate for 3050228E21 which is our original part according to the catalog.
Just bought myslf the spec stage 2+. can't wait.
Well about to get my second clutch now... Got my clutch installed about a year ago. It is an Exedy stage 2. Anyone else have experiences with exedy does there clutch wear out faster or what cause I've only put like 15000kms on that clutch and now it just slips at like 3k rpm. And I just read all the above and still can't decide what to get. I want something more reliable as I don't want to do another clutch job a year later. I'm kind of thinking the ACT clutch kit xtreme XT with a fidanza flywheel. Would that be good for daily driving/track use. My exedy chatters quite a bit from stop and go and nothing I could do to smooth it out.
Did you break it in, or just punch it first thing? Some guys i've heard say there is no need to break in a clutch.. which to me is bogus. Or resurfacing the flywheel is also a must, probably pointless to mention because i'm sure you did. I dunno, 15k just seems like an awfully short time for a clutch to wear out in, maybe there was just something wrong with that specific one..? Hopefully i get more than 15k out of my spec.
I broke it in for the first 600kms not pushing it hard or revving past 3k. I got my flywheel resurfaced also ugh I'm so frustrated. I haven't had any problems with the clutch until now.
Ya thats really weird, did it come with the new release bearing?
Yeah it did at first I was thinking maybe I just glazed my clutch cause I was driving 5 people and a loaded trunk so I thought maybe it would go away after everyone was out and I did another 50km and it still slipped like crazy.
did you have the thin or thick disc cause exedy site says thin is for track use only
Hmm good question i dont really know i got it off ebay i'll look it up

for the cost of a new lightened flywheel, I would just buy one instead of having it explode on the track.
Buy a new one, do not resurface the old one!

Ive got a exedy its awesome...
Mine isn't bigger than yours.. I just like to drive
Hey Lynx any news on your clutch has it come in yet? I'm thinking of getting one off that site too so let me know how the 6 puck sprung one feels like and how shipping is for that site. Thanks
back from the dead!!! anyone know of the os Giken triple disc clutch ( r3b) will work probably on a gtir motor and transmission? do I just need to switch the bolts to fit. or does the flywheel really need to be redrilled?
I got an ACT clutch to replace the stock,, was told to take it easy after the install, I did for about 500km,never had any problems and still works perfectly.
So ACT, JWT and exedy and bulldog seem to be the options, what's the best to get on small amounts of money? Also resurface the flywheel or get a light weight one?

SPEC also has GTi-R specific clutches available. I can get them for multiple torque ratings. They also offer a steel, or aluminum flywheel option as well as a optional billet pressure plate. PM if you'd like prices...
