Blow Off Valve
I am thinking about putting a Blow Off Valve in my Pulsar Gti-R. I have been looking around for a BOV cant seem to find any good ones.
Also should i leave the factory recirculation valve on? And mount a BOV on the intercooler piping?
Has anyone done this setup?

the set up does work yes i know ppl running it but i have a couple brand new still in box hks ssqv which is an atmopheric blow off that works perfect with maf sensored cars, i ran one on my pulsar and it worked great.. these bovs are 299.99 plus taxes im willing to let them go for 200 or best offer.. if you know anything about them there well worth it. pm me if you interested
Beat me once shame on me - Beat me twice, I turn my boost up :D
thats a very good bov and at that price id take it if i was u i have one on my car the last few years wiith no probs and they sound GREAT ps the hks bov sell for 400 euro over here in ireland so thats a bargin

Whatever you decide on for bov you'll need a good vacuum source with the gtir because of the quad throttle bodies.
Using the stock vac line in my gtir provided inadequate vacuum inHg under certain conditions with the new bov installed last year: such as at partial throttle lift after a hard mid rpm burst where it could sound like a freakin'clown show with all the compressor surge on lifting the pedal. :( not performing but a surprisingly fun $ound ....
Mightycarmods has on the net a video on a turbosmart bov install with the 4>1 vac line. The improved vac source also worked wonders for my greddy type rz bov prob above. [rz same as type-rs]. My gallery comments list some info on dimensions of the tubes that came from Turbosmart's bov instructions downloaded pdf.
I've modded my greddy rz bov spring rate by removing one of the dual springs as can be seen in a pic in the same gallery comments. I like it with less spring pressure because of the fast actuation and slightly slower closing time. Lots of room for adjustment.
I've yet to recirc the system at this time but in anticipation easily found an inexpensive 29mm knockoff blow off valve recirculation adapter on ebay to plumb metered air back into system primarily, and it can be a bit noisy where you don't want it to be. Best luck & i hope it helps

hks ssqv only makes like a one time wosssh i want something that has the compressor surge sound in it. (Woshshshsh)

To save the turbo, most might prefer WHHHOOOOooossshhhh or variant, so the fluttering 'sh' is gone and the compressor doesn't get stressed at speed. If actually you want the compressor surge flutter noises then crimp the line with vicegrips or stick in a restrictor and it would become a simple pop-off valve which would have lots of initial flutter i'd bet. not good imho
From what i've heard, the hks is great at eliminating leaks at idle by design and sounds a bit different than say the greddy or tial or turbosmart. The peaky sound at the start of flow on the hks bov exhaust sound you can hear on the youtube is from air slipping between the rubber and metal; the greddy rz bov horn to atmosphere is drilled with 8 small vents around the edge that make it whistle a bit too. If the horn is unscrewed and removed the type-rz sounds a bit more ragged and not nearly as sharp and clear as with the horn, not unlike truck air brake discharge without the squeek. The new style Tial unit I listened to on youtube recently was a huge new rotary unit that flowed 6% better and sounded even different than the rest. Size is a factor there.
Using the stock recirculation valve and a pipe mounted aftermarket bov as you suggest sounds like it would have some advantages:
It would allow you to raise the point at which the turbo wastegate actuator functions and then the rpm of the turbine can be kept higher; you would use the BOV to vent to atm vs opening the wastegate that would cause the turbine to spool down. The wastegate actuation point could be regulated by a small valve bleeding vac/boost pressure and the bov spring pressure you could dial in by turning any adjustment setscrew or maybe changing out or trimming a spring. It's pretty basic initially but could be expensive if things go wrong such as turbine overspeed or tons of compressor surge or boost creep and detonation.

if you want a woooshwooshwoosh sound, just hookup the vented bov to the original vaccuum line. thats how my ssqv sounded before i did the quad throttle hoses mod to make it work "properly"
yeah i had the single vaccume line on my car with the ssqv and it was exactly what you want the wooshshshshshsh it sounds great tho.

The 4>1 mod is seen below colorized in the image for illustration; the ends of the hoses fit to the black capped ports beside the throttle adjusting screws and run to the bov

this simple mod for pennies made the bov work and likely would have 'fixed' the old recirc valve that was deemed 'broke' i will guess.
The tubing used was 1/4" inch heavy walled vacuum tube [black] for the 4>1 line. dimentions here: http://www.canadagtir.com/files/user412/hosed.jpg

Does the HKS BOV come with a flange that i can get welded to my intercooler piping or is it a stock replacement?

It depends on the it you buy. You just need a SSQV flange with a 34mm round adapter.
it comes with the picture above, its a piece you weld in if you have a front mount, if not in sticks into your stock recirc hose and you plug off the actual recirc hose itself
