1st gear issue

When I am driving and going into 1st I have to push hard to get it in but while I am parked and just going thru the gears it is easy..any ideas why this happening? A friend of mines said "problem you have is a problem with either your clutch disc or pressure plate" he had the wrong pressure plate. Thanks.
*edit* and sometimes it is a little difficult to get reverse. after doing some reading on other gti-r forums some people say it may be the synchros :-(

Yeah mine does the same thing you just need to find the exact point when shifting and the amount of sideways force you putting on and it won't be too bad. When it comes to gearing down to 1st when rolling its next to impossible for me unless i'm going under about 20k. You should almost never have to shift into 1st while rolling but if it comes down to it i usually just kick it in second and low rev it a bit with minimal throttle. It most likely the synchro's but it might just be a shitty tranny design... All of the powertrain components in the gtir are shit so I wouldn't be suprised lol. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it give you a lot of grief. Good luck

if you haven't changed your tranny fluid, i'd change it. it'll at least help a bit temporarily. you can also try realigning first by getting off the clutch, back on the clutch, going into second, then first. I've had to do this a couple times when its really cold.

yea I'll change the tranny fluid asap, hopefully that helps. thanks

i'd go with redline mt90 or any synthetic 75w90. i wouldn't use the heavy weight shockproof, it would be uber uber thick like molasses in alberta weather.

^I guess that mt90 would be good for the transfer box and the rear diff as well?

mm.. i dont think mt90 has the additives for an lsd. you could try motul 90PA which is meant for lsd diffs. else if you could heat the redline heavyweight with say boiling water or something you might be able to get it to pour into the transfer and rear diff. but in your temps, i think you'll have a bitch of a time trying to get it in there.
