Wingnut's R's of terror....
Well, maybe not so much terror!! But it is the main project/daily I have on the go. I purchased the car from miasma back in October. This is how the car looked when I first met it:

It passed the OOP with flying colors once it was here in AB. I then began to personalize it. The PIAA superwhites are good, but these are better:
It has a few loose suspension bits that need to be dealt with. I have ordered all the Superpro bushings available for the R. I got a set of Anti-lift/castor adjusting bushings from nick which really improved the feel of the front end. Then needed a little customizing to get them to fit right:
I also got a Cusco lower brace from nick at the same time.
Next on the agenda was rollers for the snow. It took little time at all to decide on wheels. With the WRC heritage of the car, OZ's were near mandatory!! 15" Suppertourismo's, wrapped in Kumho I*pike's:
I have a set of JIC's on the way to address this wheel gap, and the fact that the front OEM coils are leaking pretty badly..
Also in the near future, I have a FMIC from my old GTR to install. AC will be deleted. Battery is headed to the trunk. Custom I/C and intake pipework. AVC-R to install, LC-1 wideband and a Vipec full stand alone EMS....
AC hopefully comes out this week, and I will try and baseline dyno on friday night....

I don't know what is going on with the image sizes...miasma!?!?

I just got rid of my A/C pump a Dayco poly cog 32" belt works.. I got a five rib by accident and it works but If you can get the six it's of course better
Mine isn't bigger than yours.. I just like to drive
my suggestion would be to go with a nistune or a calumsult and forgo the standalone.. you'll save urself headache and bucks
i'm also glad the superpro bushings worked out, i have to say the anti lift/castor bush and the rear subframe lock and align bushes are the most effective on the whole car. If you were on a budget, those would be the two to do. I would suggest a bumpsteer kit and the whiteline adjustable rear sway bar to finish off the suspension. that will clear the understeer as much as you possibly can. Of course you can also get the whiteline front swaybar as well as its 1mm smaller in diameter, but if you're on a budget i would do it in that order. 1. antilift castor bush 2. rear subframe lock and align 3. whiteline rear sway bar 4. bumpsteer kit 5. coilovers 6. the rest of bushings
Wingnut, where did you get the JIC's?
Thanks guys. I have to call Nissan tomorrow about a belt and valve cover gasket, but now I have a length, which make things easier. My day job is stand alones, so there are no headaches, and I have the ECU already! I was going to use it in my GTR, but that is gone now....
I'm still undecided on the rear subframe. Lock kit, or energy suspension? I have to confirm if the Z32/R32/S13 and the N14 use the same bushing, as they do share the same lock kit. If so, I have the bushings already too...

yes the lock kit is the same as the z32/s13 etc etc
Installed new OEM motor mounts, and Nismo dog bones (Torque link?). And my Sat radio...

Which ones are you running (SF-1 or FLT-FAS or FLT-TAR)
Custom spring rate?
What was your cost to the door? (if you don't mind me asking)
Cheers
FLT-TAR's I haven't heard fromthem as to what spring rates they have available. I also don't know shipping yet, but I payed a fair bit less then retail. Bro deal sort of.

Does the JIC bro deal go for your new GTIR bro's as well? ;)
Got the Innovate installed yesterday. Since I was working the exhaust, figured I might as well ditch the cat.
Way too loud without any muffler. I'm going to have to find something. The car came with a Nismo cat-back, but the muffler fell apart, so I straight piped the muffler section...
Also took a quick shot of the Cusco Lower Brace I installed...updated above..
modform, let me see what I can do...

Installed the new rear seat belt buckles. Doesn't need pics.
Installed new Cap, Rotor, plugs and Worxspec ignition wires. Misfire may have been bad gas, or an injector was stuck open. It's cleared itself up now.

So, I somehow managed to pull the engine out of a perfectly running GTi-R. Not a big deal as I had Gts-t for the summer months. I slowly (see: quickly) turned the Gts-t into a track car, (full suspension tuned, Vipec, boost up, stripped...). It was awesome. But showed it's weak side in the AutoX realm. RWD just didn't do it for me.
Meantime, the GTi-R sat in waiting as I tore the engine down for a simple refresher. New gaskets and seals, bearings, rings. Simple. But I wanted (needed) a track car. So I posted the Gts up for sale or trade, and ColdGTi-R took me up on the offer:
Enter GTi-R #2:

Again, I slowly (see: quickly) began the track car process. After clearing up a minor running issue (Car would not rev past 5000rpm very well, infact, after the 1bar loop, it wouldn't pass 5k at all) that I believe to be the distributor (Cam/Crank angle sensor), I began the transformation. Start by stripping the rear half of the interior:
Then onto the suspension. I had already purchased everything from the Whiteline catalogue, and a few bits from Super-pro.
And on they went. Quite a few hours later, all the whiteline was done. Quick shot of the rear swaybar, Superpro endlink bushes and the Subframe lock kit.
More shots of the Whiteline bits to come.
As for the car, a quick swap back to the 15" wheel set, and off to the races:
You can see there how low the Whiteline bar sits!!

Cool video clip of your gtir in AutoX! Lookin' good! How much fuel should be run in the tank for cornering like that to prevent uncovering the pickup or for best weight distribution? Looks like a ton of fun!
Noticed anything "funny" with the exchange rates and parts prices lately:

The first day I ran it with a full tank. No issues other then a leak (the O ring on the sending unit fell into the tank when someone changed the pump before.) so fuel would slosh out of the tank. Once fixed it ran good all weekend, but just under 1/2 tank, it seemed to have a starvation cough on 1 turn, but only the one time. I had planned to fill it if it reoccurred, but the car ran fine all the rest of the weekend. Weight wise, it was definitely better balanced with a full tank, oversteer became progressively worse on the second day, but then again , the tires were wearing by then too....

Thanks, good to know! Will keep it higher to prevent uncovering the pickup on pavement with higher g's.
Read your blog; great clips and pics, cool stuff!

400$ for a metal box with fittings is a bit steep plus the 99$ walbro pump on top. always wanted one but at the moment i'm too poor to buy one.
this would fix ur fuel surge issues
Got some wheel spacers made up!!

Just rebuilt these non-ABS knuckles with new bearings and seals. They have the HKB long studs installed, ready for the 10mm front spacers....

so nice to have access to machine shop
please make dowel pins that are gti-r sized on the bottom half, and the top half ve head sized :)
Installed the knuckles last night...
10mm spacers went on, may want to go a little bigger, so I have a set of 15mm in the works.
Nick, I think we talked about that before, I'll check my pm box, I think you sent a drawing. Does the ve head use bigger studs? I'm assuming the ve has the big end, I'm thinking it be easier to open up the block to fit the ve dowel. If I find the specs, I'll get some whipped up if you want.
I'm also working on a surge tank for my R, depending on costs, I may make them available...

i believe its the other way around, ve has smaller dowels, and smaller headbolts.
so the gti-r side would be larger, unless your machine shop can machine the dowel holes on the ve head to take gti-r sized dowels :)
If I can get a ve head, I can get it machined. It would be worth it to bore it right through for the bigger studs, and GTi-R dowels.

Ouuuuu I want one!!

I'm looking to get a spacer made up to fit behind the rear rotors so I can run some nx units. I see you made those spacers with the stepped lip, basically exactly what would be needed. You able to make a set?
