I Purchased my gti-r 2 years ago in Calgary , and basically, I've bin threw hell and back to get it running again .
when i purchased my car, I decided to put a new engine in my gti-r cause i found out my head was cracked in 4 different places. I didnt know much about these cars at the time so i decided to go to my local import shop and get him to throw a new engine in for me. Found out after the guy moved and closed down his shop that it was a FWD SR . (will not work) haha. So i was back to square 1 again. after that whole mishap was figured out, i decided to throw another gti-r sr20det engine/tranny and turbo (package in my car).
In between all these motor/Tranny swaps I decided to make it kinda worth the while and threw some aftermarket things such as a fmic, bov,cold air,exhaust upgrades,boost controller,turbo timer,Clutch, steering Wheel, Racing seat, etc. also i did some cosmetic things to my car like another bumper, right headlight and taillight replaced. and of course, i had to get the "P" badge.

the s15 injectors are barley an upgrade, as i believe the stokers are also in the 4xx's

where is your intake manifold? What are the difference with the GTIR original engine?
it's about 8 inches lower than the gtir one it also has different injectors etc. it's in the same area though .
differences:
no more itb's
smaller weaker rods
smaller rod bearings 17mm vs 19mm
different head design
different exhaust manifold, turbo sits closer to block
smaller head studs 11mm vs 12mm
weaker main studs
different main bearings, no oil holes
smaller oem turbo t25
smaller flywheel bolts
hydraulic lifter setup vs solid lifter setup
thats just off the top of my head
he has one advantage though,
he can do a vvl head swap far easier
but then again , this engine is completely rebuilt and the head I believe is bored out and remachined , it looked almost bigger than my old gtir one (manifold spots), not sure if anything was done to the block , has new head gaskets and everything else though .
car is re-done . tell me what you think .
