My New Pulsar

pics are from japan, goanna be the longest 2 weeks - 2 months of my life! Hope all goes well at the CBSA. On a side note, has anyone had to take their pulsar to cambodian tire for the federal inspection, if so how perticular are they in the inspection? I'll post more photos as soon as she lands and I fly to Van to pick it up.

Posted: Mon, 03/31/2008 - 1:20am

nice car, you will love it I am sure, I just bought mine yesterday and I am really happy, its so much car for the $ if you think about it. no other car can match the HP/weight ratio for that price.

Posted: Fri, 04/04/2008 - 7:35am

hey might any chance did you order this car from tradecarview in japan?

Posted: Fri, 04/04/2008 - 12:24pm

very nice

no, was looking at one localy and then found this one at monky (www.japaneseusedcar.com) Awesome guys, very accomadating. He's going to send me a video of him driving it back from the mechanical garage to his warehouse., super stolked.

Posted: Sat, 04/19/2008 - 8:50am

sigh....is it here yet!!! Guess they are having issues in japan with the car..cost me more money and time..the money i couldn't care about but the time..oh precious time!! back to imagination land where I can cruise in my car all day and gas is a mere 0.40/L...

Posted: Fri, 04/25/2008 - 12:11pm

Devil i can feel your pain man, my car has been sitting on the docks here for the last 2 weeks. the dealer from Japan forgot to send the damn bill of lading, finally got that. Guess what, he forgot to send the title... awh man i just want my car. I feel ur pain brother.

Posted: Sat, 04/26/2008 - 5:03pm

yeah now it gets even worse for me, my car has to goto a nissan dealership in japan to be put under a diagnostic test to figure out this wiring problem. Sucks so hard. I wanted my car for summer! My dad bought his skyline from the same guys i bought my pulsar from and his car landed without any problems within a month!.....I guess its just a taste of more to come being a pulsar owner lol. so if anyone in edmonton wants to let me ride shotgun for a cruise id be stolked! But i will be making engine sounds and pretending im driving...UGH! On a positive note he did send me a video of him going for a short gentle cruise with the car....Dude must suck even worse for you though, your car is there...waiting...begging to be driven hard like a drunk chick yah brought home form the bar.

Posted: Sun, 04/27/2008 - 1:09pm

I know it sucks waiting, but i think its better for them to figure out and fix any problems with your car wile its still in japan. btw get some working pictures!!

Posted: Sun, 04/27/2008 - 5:32pm

haha ok ill put new links to my photobucket album, theres alot of pics and a short video on there if interested. I agree with letting them fix it, no point in getting the car here in dire need of parts that im goanna order from japan anyways...but still...i waaaaant it!

Posted: Sun, 04/27/2008 - 10:54pm

wow, she sounds mean!!!

Posted: Mon, 04/28/2008 - 4:14am

thanx, thats sorta a tame video. once the genleman from japan picks the car up from the nissan dealership he is goanna take a more aggressive video, with full boost. When that is though, I dunno lol

Posted: Mon, 04/28/2008 - 2:15pm

All you can do is wait it out. I think my issue will be resolved by this weekend. Hey man that a nice ride though, its worth the wait. What you can do is ask the dealer to get parts over there if you want, their dirt cheap. recardo sits *cough cough*.

Posted: Mon, 04/28/2008 - 7:49pm

yeah no shit, lucky guy you are. I was looking at some Bride LowMax seats on ebay. Pretty pricey though. Its on the list of things to buy along with stereo and some new konig hotswap rims. But first things first, i gotta get the car here. You have any pictures of your special little friend?

Posted: Tue, 04/29/2008 - 8:47am

I put some pics up when everything is cleared up. I think she looks okay, i let you guys be the judge of that.

Posted: Wed, 04/30/2008 - 7:36pm

got a new video from japan....dunno what to think of this one...anyone have any input as to what to do. I know the car won't pass the federal inspection if the speedometer dies while the mechanic is giving it the once over. Any suggestions on a cause or cure for this wee problem?

Posted: Wed, 04/30/2008 - 9:24pm

yea..just buy a different pulsar...lol

...at least we now know that a proper step 1 of problem solving was applied... Knocking on it! Just hope the rest of the car wasnt fixed with step 1 also.

Posted: Wed, 04/30/2008 - 9:35pm

Seriously I dont realy want to recommend Tyee Import on the island, since my experience wasnt up to what I was described and told. But, I know they have 2 GTIR on the way from Japan at the moment. One black and one Grey. Go see them for yourself, its a bit of a drive or bus (as I did) but its much cheaper than buying a problem from japan. I cant even beleive that your source let you know all of those problems instead of just fixing them asap and shipping the car. A dead cluster is not the end of the world for people who are supposed to be knowledgeable of a car sold and maintained for 17 years on their soil...

Posted: Wed, 04/30/2008 - 10:55pm

sorry, your in edmonton so Tyeeimport is far from you... doh. hell, I can go look at them when they arrive and make my review of both! might be helpfull to others...

Posted: Wed, 04/30/2008 - 11:12pm

Yeah im starting to get worried, after the car was payed for which was advertised as "GOOD" running condidition, appears to be requiring quite a few repairs. And there is jack shit I can do, they sorta got me by the short and curlies...Which is weird my father bought his skyline from these dudes and all went well minus a few badges and shit being stolen (most likely by a 3rd or 4th party). Meh oh well, all i can do is smile, and hopefully ill feed the problem enough money that ill get my car...

Posted: Wed, 04/30/2008 - 11:23pm

I suggest if you know anyone else in japan, have the car transfer over to them or something... hell have it checked by a reputable shop abroad instead of dumping cash at monkeys in a industrial park who obviously cant handle that minor problem, your dad gtr ran fine and it was the first to be shipped. they obviously gain trust and felt comfy enought to jack a bit more cash out of you. that is sad but it is what you deal with now. I understand you because I amost send 14 000$ for a skyline R32 2 weeks before I deceide to be a humble man and buy a GTIR instead. I was scared as hell to wire money and wait. in the end I went to an import dealer who had car localy to me.

Posted: Wed, 04/30/2008 - 11:24pm

on a sidenote to chear you up... notavw and I had a mini meet tonight... it was awsome and he is a great dude who love gtir so much. good crowd out there for gtir owners and its just growing.

Posted: Wed, 04/30/2008 - 11:30pm

Yeah it seems to be that way, they did take it to a nissan dealership there...ill post the email i got last.. sorta hard to read..
"ABS lamp not fixed yet, After All Nissan Can't find the "Clear answer".
These cars has no OBD, or OBD2 clear diagnosis system, so a couple of
"Problems" are problems, but Most suspicious parts is "Meter assembly",
and "Wiring for ABS".
ABS pump works itself, any issues, ABS sensor has no problems.

Nissan says "Low voltage issue" cause these On and Off problems, and I
have some similar experiences on Skyline, 180SX, and Pulsar GTi-R, which
has HICAS system, or similr Electric controlled devices.

But the voltage is "no problems", the most suspicious issue is "Wire",
or "Electric" issues.

This meter could be 100% "Out", has problems, but I can't have any idea
this meter unit is the "problems" for ABS lump, or wiring issue, so Now
I am disassembling meter panel, wires of ABS, etc..."
Dunno, my dads a heavy duty mechanic who has had his nose dug into nissans and datsuns for awhile now. I may get the car shipped as is and park at his place in poco...I dunno sorta a killjoy, still havent lost my enthusiasm for these cars and the community that surrounds them.

Posted: Wed, 04/30/2008 - 11:36pm

man if i ever do actually end up gettin this car shipped, when it lands in vancouver id love to go for a burn with you guys. Would be a good way to learn about and ask questions about my car.

Posted: Sat, 05/03/2008 - 7:35am

Well I think Ive decided to get the car shipped as is, My dad lives in poco and said he can gimmie a hand jimmy rigging shit to pass an inspection, like removing the ABS bulb and maybe put in a new gauge cluster...if that is the problem with the speedo. Tired of it being mollested in Japan. So much for full disclosure from Monky's...

Posted: Sat, 05/03/2008 - 7:37am

on a side not, would anyone be interested in any sorta parts? Im thinking of packing my car full of goodies. So if anyone would be interested PM me. See if its worth while. Save on shipping Just pay duty on purchase price...

Posted: Sat, 05/03/2008 - 8:25am

i might be interested. i know yasu from monky's. my pals have taken him out for dinner and went to the tokyo autosalon a couple years back with him. we also got to meet the signal auto guys through him. he's rather well connected.

anyways if your car hasnt shipped yet. let me know. there's a few things i want that can be thrown in the car. i can also help you purchase a ton of stuff as well. i make purchases off the japanese yahoo auctions all the time.

Posted: Sun, 05/04/2008 - 5:30am

by chance are your palls the dudes from dj auto?

Posted: Sun, 05/04/2008 - 8:02am

no theyre not.. im not from edmonton

Posted: Sun, 05/04/2008 - 9:27am

yeah i deduced that by the little vancouver under your name ;) Sounded like the dudes there, same deal flew down to meet him, grab some grits so on and so forth. and no, my car hasn't shipped yet, ran into some snags. So pm me or i can give yah my cell # and we can hammer out a plan.

Posted: Sun, 05/04/2008 - 9:33am

i sent you a pm yesterday.. probably your notification isn't on.

we can probably ask yasu to buy whatever we need and simply wire him the money. i can probably email money transfer you something and split the cost of wiring money to him. let me know

Posted: Sun, 05/04/2008 - 10:11am

k i gotta transfer some money for these repairs once i know the final cost still, so we can aim for that date whenever that happens. Ill know a more definative date once he's done with that. So the cost of wirring is covered but duty will be your cost, We could also arrange a meet in vancouver and exchange money-goods in person?

Posted: Sun, 05/04/2008 - 10:40am

That works too. if you use msn my im is nickchu@hotmail.com

Posted: Fri, 05/09/2008 - 6:47am

Some new pics of it all cleaned up and ready to ship.

Posted: Wed, 05/14/2008 - 11:15am

what are those weird bulges where the trunk have hinges? your car must have been southern car like mine, no rust but all the paint is faded and all the seals are dried out... it kinda sucks a bit to have to replace all rubber parts on the car.

Posted: Wed, 05/14/2008 - 11:24am

DevilsRHD,

The ABS light issue is a common one on GTI-r's. There are a couple ABS sensors around the wheel areas that need to be replaced or reseated. Check out www.gtiroc.com or www.nissangtir.co.uk and search the forums for the issue. There is quite a bit of information about it.

Posted: Thu, 05/29/2008 - 4:15pm

Well apparently they managed to solve the problem with a good clean of the conections of the sensor. Car was sent out on transport truck to the shipyard in japan today. had the best day ever, nothing could ruin my buzz!

Posted: Thu, 05/29/2008 - 7:43pm

looking good, congrat on the next step forward!

Posted: Fri, 05/30/2008 - 6:13pm

so close, june 20th - 30th is the eta, im goanna enjoy the next 4 weeks of no sleep :/

Posted: Fri, 05/30/2008 - 6:56pm

Congrats, nice car! If you need a cluster there might be one for sale in QC, someone has parted out his R. I wont be sleeping either for the next 4 weeks, but because I'm getting a house :D hahaha

Posted: Fri, 05/30/2008 - 7:03pm

nice on the step to being a homeowner. As per the gauge cluster I may need one in the future, my goodie list is already longer than oj simpson's wrap sheet.

Posted: Fri, 05/30/2008 - 11:16pm

woah, i hope that jap dude gets outta the car before it comes to canada. that would be a hard one to get thru cbsa. lol, congrats. I remember the 6 months i had to wait for my car. It sucked

Posted: Sat, 05/31/2008 - 4:55am

Hahahaha, funny stuff. "Yeah um, he is the factory installed driver/maintenece crew....." You had to wait six months? Uh I have only been waiting 2-3 months...and I wanna punch babies. Six months woulda destroyed my mind

Posted: Sat, 05/31/2008 - 5:03am

I also talked to a CBSA agent yesterday and the girl eased my concerns, due to alotta hearsay from friends, family regarding importing a car from japan and the risk of seizure. She informed me its as easy as a dream, bill of sale, cargo manifest, and paying alotta different people with their hands out, assuming no food particles are there. Also no need for a federal inspection, only provincial! But enough chat, I must get back to work on my time traveling dmc delorian

Posted: Mon, 06/02/2008 - 9:48am

Hey congrats on finally getting your R. Its gonna be a love hate relationship trust me, there's nothing like hitting boost on these ol' cars.

Posted: Mon, 06/02/2008 - 9:08pm

I had to wait 6 months cuz my car wasnt excatilly 15 years old when i bought it. but yea honestly the import process was as easy as can be. the import company tells u all the steps and fee's before hand. you simply give the money and drive the car away.
