GTiR in Japan

Hey fellow GTiR`s. I`m currently living in Japan. Got this little gem a few weeks ago. Im originally from Abbotsford BC and will be importing it back there next march. Picked it up like this. JIC coils, HKS BOV, HKS filter, Kakimoto muffler. Got a few things planned for the winter. Mainly cosmetic. Smoked sidemarkes, de-badged, removing tint, and polishing lips of wheels with painted gold centres. When I bring it back to Canada I want to do a 3`` exhaust, fmic, and boost up.

Enjoy

After searching for ages for a car here I came across this little guy. After the initial test drive I was hooked. Driving on the wrong side of the road and a RHD car took a little getting used to but I can manage pretty good now. I live near some pretty cool twisty roads in the mountains and along with bombing down some of Tokyo`s expressways makes driving this car a real blast.

cool car man, glad you'll bring her back!

maybe we can have you bring a few more goodies for the folks on the club? Stuff hard to source this side of the pacific.

Love the picture, man. Brings back a lot of memories. Funny, I lived in (Osaka) Japan for just over a year, yet thinking back I can't ever remember seeing a Pulsar GTI-R on the road! I guess I was so distracted by the Skylines, VIP cars and converted vans that little Pulsars didn't even register in my mind!

Also funny is that I was looking to bring a car back with me as well but figured my options were so limited as this was 2004, and the only cars that were 15 years old at the time (as far as I knew) was a Skyline and maybe a Fairlady.... hindsight is 20/20.

Nice ride tochi. A lot of good roads for midnight thrashing up that way. Been there myself a few times in the old Silvia years back.

A little snowy mountain shot. Ski mountains here would be a joke to Canadian West Coasters. Hokkaido has some pretty nice hills though, and killer powder. Getting pretty cold here in Japan now. Not as cold as Canada but Ive been spoiled here the last few months with 15-20 degrees C everyday. haha.Front and rear badges are off as well as the tint. Been working on the other set of wheels. Got the lips polished now painting the centres gold. Should be done in a week. Also picked up a Subaru Twin turbo motor to put in the back of my beetle back home. My favorite road in Tochigi would have to be Irohazaka just past Nikko. 50 hairpin turns in a row and the best part is the road is one way. Pretty much a race track @ night. Come to think of it I have only seen 2 GTiR in my time in Japan. They are very rare cars to say the least. I say one @ Daikuko Futo once and one driving around my area. I have have had my eye out for them too. I think the 1994 model is the rarest with the smallest production run.

irohazaka is awesome i have to admit.. i wish i had my r when i was living in saitama, unfortunately i was relegated to my mamachari, bus, and chikatetsu i did get to experience irohazaka in an xtrail gt, peppy for a minisuv.

Those wheels look sick mate. Very well done!

Wish I would have joined the club sooner. Could have met up at TAS. This weekend up at Fuji is the Premium Day. Any chance you can make it down?

SOz man. gunna go to JCCA @ odaiba on sun. Loads of classic cars on display there. Havent had a chance to see the whole japanese classic car scene here yet. I was @ ebisu last weekend, unfortunately it was covered in snow. fukushima is cold this time of year.

Yeah it would have been cool to meet up @ TAS cuz I was with a girl @ the time and she wasn`t to pleased with me taking pictures of all the race queens. hahah.

r u living in Yokohama now?

Posted: Mon, 01/19/2009 - 11:29pm

Went to a JCCA jamboree at Fuji two years back. Rained like a mother but still had fun. Odaiba's huge for this type of show, should be good. I'll try and make it over there.

My wife never came to TAS so I went solo on the Friday AM for media. Nice and clear with not many around. Next year im trying to get in on the Thursday night when most shops are setting up. Best time for shooting and helps being connect with many of the shops on hand.

North part of Yokohama, roughly 20-25 minutes from central Tokyo by car....no traffic of course..doh! Mobile is 090 8283 7141 & short mail adam-feast78 @ ezweb.ne.jp . Buzz me on Sunday if your still going.

Got the wheels on the car + took pics :) Wound down the coils in the back 20mm to even out the stance. I think im going to wind the front down about 10mm too.

Went to Nikko Circuit this weekend to stretch the legs on the GTiR.

Posted: Mon, 03/09/2009 - 5:53pm

Nice one...the GTIR always looks best on the track!

I made some experimental electrical tape eyebrows. I think it help with lines of the hood and the grill. The stock headlights seem a little big. Does anyone know if there are eyebrows avaliable for our cars?

Posted: Tue, 03/10/2009 - 6:50pm

^I think there are eye brows, saw a thread on one of those other gti-r forums about them

where exactly do you live?

Posted: Tue, 07/28/2009 - 12:52pm

At the moment Im living on my sailboat in Downtown Vancouver.

It would have been so much easier to just buy a Pulsar here. But I hope all this hassle will pay off soon.

Gold wheels look great on black cars.  It certainly has more character than gold wheels on a blue Subaru, kidding.

Posted: Fri, 11/11/2011 - 9:02am

damn that's hot.  The car....not the girlfriend....although I'm sure she looks great, but you can't really see her....anyway, lol.

Those look like the new xxr 527 wheels.  16's 0 offset? or 17 with 20 offset?  They are 8.25" wide.  Got me beat...my 513's are only 8"  :(

I've been looking at a set of these for a while as I can get the 15's for 360 shipped.  But I can see now they are played out...jk maybe I'll pick up a set for summer.

ps: someone needs to make a wide body kit for this car.

Posted: Fri, 11/11/2011 - 9:18am

Black, tintless, goldrims, vancity.... for a min I thought my car's previous owner was posting some old pics.

Posted: Fri, 11/11/2011 - 11:21am

They are indeed the new XXR 527. 15X8.25 et 0. Front require a bit a fender work to fit but the fit real nice in the rear. Also changed to NX2000 discs in the rear with 10mm spacer. Does anyone know what the \\\xxr are a copy of? They kind of look like some WEDS but these seem to have some more details on the spokes. They were super cheap @90$ per wheel. Tires cost more.... My girlfiend curbed on of the racing harts and I didn't know if I could get it fixed so I bought these. But now racing harts are fixed to I might have to mount some snowies on the racing harts and go rallying...

Posted: Fri, 11/11/2011 - 1:10pm

mb battle copies.

Selling the racing harts?

Posted: Sat, 11/12/2011 - 12:57pm

The MB battles are a copy of CST Zero or Weds. The XXR's are a little different. The Racings Harts im kind of attached to as they came over with the car from Japan. I now have 3 sets of wheels for this car. A bit of a wheel whore...

Posted: Mon, 11/14/2011 - 5:10am

just picked up a set of my own winter "rally" rims.

Posted: Mon, 11/14/2011 - 6:38am

those wheels are nice lynx

Posted: Mon, 11/14/2011 - 8:02am

Very cool Lynx. Whats the specs on those? I've never seen them before.

Posted: Mon, 11/14/2011 - 8:56am

15x7 35 offset. They are original tom's racing rims for Toyotas.

sorry to thread jack I'll post my own thread when they are on the car.
