two vin plates? ANSWER INSIDE

I am just jumping through hoop number 99,999 trying to get my car insured here and I have run into (yet another) problem. The car passed its provincial inspection fine and I've now gone to register it with icbc (local insurance) and they need to visually confirm the *2 vin plates on the car - the only problem is I cannot find 2, I can only find the one in the engine bay. My question to everyone is: is there another vin plate anywhere on this car?  I guess if there isn't I will have to apply for a new vin and wait a rediculous amount of time to recieve it. It amazes me how difficult our government has made it to import these things!
Thanks in advance!

yea the car only has one vin number. the other one is the one that you get once it is approved. mine has 2 cos it got in before all this crap hit the fan with the whole importing thing. so yea im not sure if they know what they are talking about..cos you wont have 2 vin plates till they issue ur car another one.

uhhhh no u dont have to get another vin. i dont have one. rich got his car inspected before the rule change. U need to go to a shop that has done this before. Your new "VIN" will be your chassis code. so on ur insurance papers it will read RNN14123456 as an example. I just did mine in September and that was all they use now. No more applying for a vin number for imported cars. If u need help getting this done give me a call and i will find a place for u to get it all sorted out. I know people lol. Just pm me for my number if u need it.

WOW I have the answer - the second vin is RIGHT NEXT TO THE FIRST VIN.

Do I feel dumb or what - I spent like an hour searching the car for another vin and this whole time they were printed like 3 inches from each other. One of them is printed on a metal tag that is riveted on the firewall, and the other is actually engraved in the firewall itself.
Hopefully this helps someone else with the same problem!
