which air filter ?
Hey guys my air filter is pretty dirty and I think its a cheap brandless one ... anyways I was just wondering which one you guys are using ... I heard the K&N one was pretty good ... anyone have an idea of the size ? is it 3 or 4 inches ?

Any 3" will do but you might need an adapter plate.
Reputable name brands are Apexi, Blitz, HKS...anyone else want to chim in.
stay away from mushroom foam filters.

What an odd post... I just have some ebay cone filter right now. I can't convince myself to spend 150 on an apexi unit that does the same thing.
K&N is what i got and i think it works great and it fit right into the stock box 80$ and all you have to do is clean it when its dirty!
why drive any car.... drive your dream car!
I just bought a K&N for 45$ ... dont know how good its going to turn out ... it has a chrome top thought does this infulence the performance ?
since when a color influence the performance
if the brand performance ranking is not by color it wont change anything
I run K&N and love it...i love the life time warrenty too:)
K&N 60 dallors took a while to find one that would fit good though works great!
I love my A'pexi filter, and it bolts right onto the stock MAF. Only thing is that you have to drill 2 new holes on the MAF.
since when a color influence the performance
apparently for plastics/synthetic dyed materials surprisingly the color can influence the durability of some materials.
The amount of color pigment required to give a good color saturation varies with the colors and the pigments used.
The pigmen are just an adulteration to the material and weaken the structure of the plastic by some degree.
ie. less blue pigment required makes for stronger milk crates as compared to the same level of color saturation requiring more pigment with red colored plastics.
so, can't say from personal experience or not but for a red foam filter vs a blue foam filter, the red would turn to dust first.
fwiw: the phrase 'chromed to within an inch of it's life' may also apply where heat retention is a REAL issue. ie. totally chromed showcar style vw bug engine would overheat.
Noticed anything "funny" with the exchange rates and parts prices lately:
