no you need a re-tune in order to use a z32 afm.

is yours really broken? most of the time its just the ground wire that needs to be re-grounded elsewere.

If you still need one I have a spare

i've got one too, but it definitely could just need to be regrounded.

can anyone explain to me the meaning of regrounding ? Is it a hard procedure ? Tyvm

Just a quick question since its been mentioned. If I were to get a 300zx maf does it have to be the turbo model or does it not matter? I was just about to hit up a local wrecker to find one but realized it was a sunday and they don't open. thanks

you want an n62 maf, it has an orange label. im not sure if its z32 n/a or turbo specific though

apparently both n/a and turbo z32 uses the same one as i read on another forum so it doesn't matter. But heres a noob question what would happen if you put the z32 maf on without a tune? would your car bog like no other and run like crap?

Before swapping up your Maf, I suggest looking through the forum about re-grounding your maf... It's not hard to do and tends to be one of those often overlooked issues which can solve a lot of driveability concerns. I actually re-grounded my maf and added some more engine and body grounds ( you can buy a kit which will do the same thing for 80-120$-I did the same but made my own, costs less and still works perfectly ) Made a huge difference in power, and fuel economy after doing this.

Do you have pictures or details of the grounds you made? How much power/ fuel economy are you talking?

Don't have any pics, but I used a nice 8 guage wire, soldered some ring terminals on. I ran a short one from battery neg to body, ran one from body to eng in 3 different spots, joined the two engine grounds near injectors and ran back to bat neg, etc etc. It can all look very nice if you spend the time to route properly. You could even colour match if have some sort of theme you want to stick with, or hide it away with loom. As for the maf re grounding soldered into the white wire and ran back to bat neg as well. Before doing this I had a consistent injector duration of around 2.5 to 3.0ms @idle, intermittantly would climb to 3.5ms and run pretty rough and the exhaust would stink. It would fuel soak the oil in 2-3000km. After regrounding my maf I dropped the injector time right down to between 1.8 and 2.0ms @ idle, with no int. climbs, which is in spec(1.7-2.5ms-idle). As for some actual mileage numbers, have yet to do any real number cruching... but lets just say my wallet is thankful, it was costing me 10 a day in fuel to go to work and back, now it only costs me five.It also runs a hell of a lot smoother and doesn't hesitate under load anymore, which is really what had been bothering me right from day one. I had previously thrown a lot of parts at the car trying to solve this issue, all along I could have fixed it for less than 20 bucks and about an hour.

whoseyourgtir - would it be similar to this:

http://www.sr20forum.com/group-buys/239113-gb-2-ground-wire-kits-p10-p11-b13-b14-b15.html

also, what were you using to find out the injector durations?

nissan consult either ecu talk, calumsult, nissandatascan will give u that info.

i also built my own grounding wire out of a monster cable amp kit that was on sale for 10$  but i grounded my maf to the intake manifold where the ecu is grounded.

Yes, very similar. You can buy a gti-r specific kit from ebay, or as you can see... very easy to build yourself. As for how I am getting injector duration- I have a Snap On mt-2500 scanner(I am a tech by trade).Don't get any turbo data but all other inputs and outputs are visible. Originally I ordered a consult board from Emance but... product a dud when recieved. Was instructed to send it back and he would send me another. Jason at Emance stopped all correspondence, wouldn't even answer the phone... I basically got scammed for 60 bucks. Beware of Jason at emance if you decide to get a consult board. Other products mentioned above would be a better way to go.

I did price a brand new maf from the dealer and it would have been $650 canadian, would have been an expensive guess had I just slapped a maf on the car.

80 auzzie dollars.. which is maybe like 75$ canadian

i got this one, works well, specially if u don't have an older notebook with a serial port.
and ecutalk is a reputable business.. u could always opt for the wicked cool consult display box

Also, if you do not want to pay for the software, there is a crack that works on all versions to date that allows you to enter any code you want for registration.
