USA transient/tourist driving.
Hi all. It has never dawned on me until recently, but if I were to travel to the USA in a RHD, is it legal? Specifically Washington state as I'm a BC resident. I've been there with my GTI-R just to pick up goods for a quick trip, and the border officers have never refused me entry, but that could be because they are not sure of the laws themselves not being Dept. of Transportation enforcers. Any advice is appreciated.\
Thanks.

you will be fine.
I'm in South Carolina right now with my GTi-R for 2 months.
Only Chuck Norris can own a GTi-R. The GTi-R owns everybody else.
I got stopped at the Ontario michigan border and drug searched lol, but they let me in no problem. They were concerned that I was imported the car??
Once in the states though, people freaked when they saw my car, twice as much as in canada.
Yes that is also true. I get stalked down here by the 'Merican folks. I also got stopped at the border for about an hour because they thought I would try to sell it illegally.

I've gone across last fall when I just picket up my gtir , spent two hours waiting as they searched the car , haselled like no other and asked the stupidest questions , I will be very weary of taking it over the boarder in the future.

Thanks for the input guys. I've been across with it a few times already, but only just to pick up stuff. So really only across for a bout half an hour and never got any gruff, just if I'd spend some ample time in the United States.
i've gone several times, and stayed a few days other times. basically to seattle area really only. i don't know why you would get hassled. i always empty out the car neways, no matter the car i take across. i've never had trouble at the border about the car.
i've used pt roberts, truck crossing, pacific border crossing, and the crossing further out forgot the name.
i've also brought across 8 tires, springs, numerous car parts, electronics in the gti-r from pt roberts, with not a single question about the car. i crossed the border with my gf who's a japanese national applying for a student visa in the canadian consulate in seattle, not a single question about the car.
plus i have the nexus pass so i doubly check im not bringing stuff across as its not worth it to lose.
