your biggest issue is rubbing the suspension unless you have coilovers.. there's not a lot of backspacing.

Ya, i'm pretty sure 245 would be quite a bit to fat.. I'd be scared to go anything over 215 even.

you could probably get away with 225's on a +35 offset rim with a 10 or 15mm spacer. if you've got coilovers you might be able to get away with a 5mm spacer

fwiw: The P.O. of my gtir installed non-stock [d2] suspension and 205/45ZR16 Kuhmo Ecsta SPT tires on 7J16H2 et37 O.Z six spoke rims. The P.O. said once he had gotten the ride height worked out there was no rubbing and great grip. CV joints and wheel bearings replaced at same time.
Tire Size Comparison (gtir stock spec vs. 205/45-16)
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
195/55-14 4.2in 11.2in 22.4in 70.5in 899 0.0%
205/45-16 3.6in 11.6in 23.3in 73.1in 867 3.6%
The above wheel tire combo weighs 40 lb., yet to be installed this season.

My current rims are
15x7 +35 enkei es-tarmac's
with 205/50/15 azenis rt-615's they have a section width of 212mm measured with a ruler (8.2inch/209mm advertised section width).
i also run a 5mm spacer.
tire weight is 21.1 lbs, my rim is 11.1 lbs.

i don't run coilovers and have no rubbing issues, but i also have solid rear end links, the whiteline adjustable rear sway bar at full stiff, whiteline subframe lock and align kit, cusco rear upper strut bar, kyb rally shocks, and some no name lowering spring (approx 1inch).

I run 215/40/16 R-compounds on Buddy Club P1's. They are 16x7.5 with 40 offset and I did not use a spacer. Very close to my suspension but didn't rub. Will be using 15mm spacers this year to increase the track...

What type of tire are the Yokohama's?

I'm test fitting a set of 225 50 16's on this week I will let you know.. I've got cusco coil overs so they should be in simalar spec to your suspension right?
