Possible reasons why my car died...
Well I managed to drive my car back from vancouver to edmonton, minus a fubared fuel pump outside of kamloops. The trip was pretty smooth sailing. Highway 5A was a blast. But a mere 3 days after i get it into town trying to get my OOP sorted out, driving down the whitemud, doing the speed limit..the car let a alarming "PFFT" go, and then loss of all throttle response. I checked for fuel line leaks, noticed a bit of fuel dripping from the bottom of the fuel filter, changed the fuel line, and filter. Would there be anything else that may be the cause of this? The fuel that came out of the old filter was almost black in color....So now she sits yets again..any ideas? Thanx guys.

PFFT! you say? You running a front mount? Maybe you blew a coupler?
nope, just pulled the valve cover, broken timing chain. appears the valves are not bent but this now just became more trouble than its worth...appears that it might not be a lost cause..i still have faith. maybe springtime!!
holy crap, your going from bad to worst... seems like you should get a low km front clip and swap the whole damn engine bay! Dunno, I'd be really tempted if I was you.
yeah thats what my father suggested, or part it out and try and recover my losses. Theres a guy here in town with a car with front right quarter damage that i might try and scoop. we'll see. Time will tell now. what a fun effing week with it though. So many rad moments.
had you put an upgraded timing chain tensionner on? I am having problems now with coolant hose that piss behind the block as well as leaky water pump... and torn CV booth (all of em)... as well as finding missing bolts from my car vibrating too much due to the stiff nismo engine mount kit. Oh the joy of owning a GTIR... not.
Today I took arrangements and I am sending it to Z-tune tomorrow on a flat bed to be properly fixed, I had my bag of that piece of s***! yet I still love it and its why I send it to be fixed... its gonna cost me a freaking leg I bet, they will most likely drop the engine. of course they will, its so damn crammed on the back of the block.
i would suggest you order the full samco kit while the engine's out. you can get all the rear hoses and water hoses replaced. The partnumbers can be found off the samco site. You might as well do the clutch as well while the motor is out rather than have to pay twice. Just a suggestion.
my buddy called me and started laughing at me [not nice] saying he saw my car on the side of the road.... sooo that was you, rotten luck man if you need a hand with anything just message me.
P.S> was that your car at that new stripmall on 23rd and 93st? a couple months back.
Guaranteed to put a smile on the front of your head!
yeah I know about samco, thanks, the clutch will wait, I just need a car that run for now. thanks Nick. :)
French - what I think was the chain tensioner didn't even seem to be bolted on. just floating there above the timing chain..Cold, that was me on the whitemud, but not the parking lot, I had just drove it here from vancouver last saturday. id really appreciate a hand, im goanna attempt to get to know my car this winter and do some well needed maintanence/part replacement. I want this car to be "Trevor" proof by springtime. Looking for a garage to store it in at the moment. Then take up another job to pay for this project.
