Octane Level
Hi Folks,
94 is the highest octane we can get at the pumps in Ontario, but in Japan they have 100 octane. Is the GTi-R set up for 100 octane?
Thanks,
Frank
PS
If this is a double post I'm sorry, but the first one I typed just vanished.

uh... 100ron is like 94/95 mon
you can get 100 octane at the pumps in the states as well... selectivly of course... personally I don't like 94 as opposed to shell Vpower. Vpower dosn't use ethanol to bolster its octane. Ethanol burns cleaner because it burns hotter... more heat is counter productive to higher octane... just my opinion... in tuning my friends 400 hp cobalt SS we found that Vpower had fewer counts of knock and we could run more timing.
Mine isn't bigger than yours.. I just like to drive
Thanks Nick and Zed. The higher burning point of 94 caused me to switch to Shell a year ago.
I realize that 100 RON is not equivalent to our Canadian/US rating. I understand that the 100 RON octane converted to a CAN/US octane rating would be about 95 or 96 (RON + MON)/2, still higher than what is readily available. I'm not looking for a discussion of octane levels as that's available many places, but I don't have a GTi-R manual so was really hoping that someone would be able to tell me if the manual's listed octane rating expected for the Japanese GTi-R was 100 RON.
I have always used 91 octane and never had a problem ...
in my cars i have a EXHAUST GAZ TEMPERATURE GAUGE .
94 octane run 1600 F on a pull
91 octace vpower run aprox 1400 F
whit methanol injection on 1100 or 1200 ..
but every thing depend of the gaz its not constant data .
sometime 91 runs like shit . other time it is good .
