New Owner in Vancouver
Hi all,
After a long wait and much stress getting through BC Inspection, i'm finally the owner of a GTi-R, living in the Vancouver area.
At the moment my vehicle is completely stock. It would be great to meet up with one or more GTi-R owners in the area. Would love to see what you have done to your cars and perhaps get some feedback on mine. I don't believe my car is running optimal but i'm not sure as it's the only one i have ever driven, so if anyone in the area is interested in taking the car for a spin and giving some feedback, that would be great.
Anyways, Nice to finally join the club!
Cheers

Hey nippongtir,
Thats a nice link with very nice looking rides.
It would be cool if could do that ... i would be in if we wanted to set up for after the olympics.
Would be nice to meet fellow iR owners.
I tried to push my car a bit today for the first time with not very good results.
Car bogs down at about 4500 - 5000 rpm and it seems hesitant to boost.
Also very slow off of first gear.
What RPM are you pushing the car to in your first and second gears??
I know most of you guys have added some mods, but it would be cool to get a general idea.
Cheers
I'm in Victoria. I would be down for a little meet with everyone. I haven't seen another R on the island before so it would be nice to see some more :D

have u changed any of the following lately?
fuel filter
plugs ngk heat range 7
cap n rotor
fuel pump
cleaned air filter?
or did u just receive the car and decide to beat the crap out of it? you do realize it was probably sitting on some lot for like 2-3yrs, then in a container for another 2 months, then at the port, then finally to you. and on top of that the previous owner probably didn't change nething for a number of years as well.
We all got the beats from Nick when we started on here, don't worry about it. But i like to think its because he cares, everything he says is true though, regular maintenance on the R is crucial, its a fussy car for sure. Only thing i haven't done on that list at least once is the heat range 7 plugs, truthfully i havent even looked into it or done any research on it.
i found an rb20 head layin round took four plugs out gapped em been running them for a year now :D

Mmmmm, Familia... if i didn't have a gti-r, i would strongly consider buying a familia gtr...

I have to agree Peg_ .... What Nick is suggesting to get done only makes sense if i want to keep the car running in good shape.
And i have to admit that i am guilty of not doing any of the maintenance items Nick mentioned, and since i haven't, i'll accept the beating!! I bet it's also going to improve my gas mileage too ....
The only servicing i have done so far is an oil change, and i never really thought about how long the car may have been sitting before i got it.
I'm probably going to need to change or check the manual transmission fluid also.
Thanks for following up guys....
These are the drain plugs you might need if the female drain plugs or plugs are rounded out by the drive socket and need replaced.

They're not organized in any order, G [transfer case] and D are the same physically but with different numbers; all are female socket drive plugs except E which is a 12mm bolt. A is the Diff filler plug. couldn't verify all numbers with nissan4u index.
for fluids i'd recommend
rear and centre diff motul motylgear 75w90 you'll need 2.5L
transmission redline mt90 (as its gl4, gl5 stuff will eat the synchros in nissan trannys) you'll need about 4.5L
Im in Van too. to add to nicks list, change the spark plug wires too. Our cars use the same ones as on the Infiniti G20, or the 2.0 b13 Sentra SE-R
