New Member, Looking Hard
Hey All,
Thought I should introduce myself, I am 20, living in Airdrie, sick of the beater, and have fallen in love with the GTIR.
I have been looking everywhere for the right deal. Would prefer something relatively stock, im sure I could deal with the minor things like exhaust intake and stuff done, but I want MY OWN CAR.
One HUGE concern I have with the car is part to keep it running. I don't want to have to spend $1000 just to get a single part imported or anything like that, but that is what these communities are for.
If I am not mistaken, there are very few differences from the SR20DET and the SR20DE, which is used in 1991-1994 Sentras?
So basically, what I want to know is, critical parts, how hard to find and how pricey are they? What kinds of things are common problems with these cars? What should I look for in a used, landed Pulsar?
Thanks for your time folks,
Maniac

Not sure if you just wanted one in alberta or what, but there is one here in manitoba for sale

I'd like to keep that one in manitoba to have someone else for me and GTIR_DONE to cruise around with, but if you want a gtir i'd say this one is pretty good. I'd rock those rims on it, but dont bother paying for the safety, cuz you'd still need to get it inspected in alberta. so theres one to think about!
save yourself the money. buy a modded gti-r from japan. then rebuild the motor, pistons, bearings, gaskets, clutch, turbo, injectors, maf. you'll be spending the money on this stuff anyways.

the previous owner of that car sold it for 5k! I had contacted him right after he sold it.. Caveat emptor, buyer beware...
If you are really looking for one in AB..check JDM Source they have/had a nice looking stock grey one it's advertised on the beyond.ca forums and these guys have this one http://jdmconnection.ca/?page_id=10&id=332 pretty rare colour I reckon.
All the best, amazing cars.
here is a buyers guide for these cars

I might be selling my GTi-R soon.
Black, 1991, 120xxx km, heated seats/mirrors, Kakimoto exhaust from the j-pipe back, intake, FMIC, nismo susp.
I won't be selling right away but just throwing it out there for anyone interested.
Haha, nice Shorty. Get me all excited about a car that wont be sold for a while! That pretty much EXACTLY what I am looking for. If it has to be modded already, those are the ones that I would want done.
What kind of shape is it in? When would you be looking to sell? What price range would you be selling in, as that will be my biggest hurdle!
Thanks for all the help guys, any more help would be greatly appreciated. What brake pads and disks are used on these cars, where would I be able to steal some from?
or you could make an offer on mine.

Haha, what a punk, he hasn't done anything to it either, the things pretty much bone stock. Why did the previous owner sell for 5k though? Its in nice shape, 5k, they got a swinging deal. Nick, hows about we trade cars?
haha no trades, not unless its an s2k, s14, exige, evo ix, or an sti.. haha
nick what you looking for your car?
BOTTLES ARE FOR BABIES.. REAL MEN GET BLOWN
parts are rather easy to source from japan and dont cost nearly as much as you might think... they also dont take very long to arrive...
i bought a set of headlights for my GTR and they took 2weeks to get here, if i spent another $50 on them they would have arrived in 3-5days... where as my roommate had bought something from the usa, the same day i bought my headlights; and it took over 4weeks to arrive...
as long as you have a good contact in japan then its pretty easy to find stuff that is good priced and in good condition...

One problem I have run into already is the turbo timer. It has a STARBO turbo timer, that came with no instructions or anyhitng like that, but it decided to kick in the other day, and after an hour of looking online, I can't seem to find anything on it. It was weird having the car running after turning her off, especially when you dont know what settings the turbo timer are set to. It turned off soon after.
Can anyone give me a hand at learning how to use the timer?
There should be a minute, second and power button...and sometimes a mode button. But I would say if it turns off in a minute just leave it alone..walk away and laugh when ppl look at you weird!

I have a Starbo timer / remote starter in my Pulsar, it would also run for about a minute if I pulled the e-brake on. I couldn't get the remote starter to work, though, so I started playing around with the little switches on the side of the black box..... now the the timer won't activate at all, whether I pull the e-brake on or not. I say leave it alone, it's doing what it's supposed to.
On a related subject, Nick: How's your Japanese translation skills? I can figure out some of the katikana, I have an idea about some of the hiragana, but have no idea about the Kanji symbols. If I post a pic of the switch instructions, do you think you could translate some of it? Ty
All go, no show
it depends. i might or might not, my kanji skills have taken a nose dive since i left japan 2.5yrs ago. u can try.
