I got lucky and they are insuring mine as a american version pulsar so its the cheapest car I have ever insured. I'm not going to ask any questions and just accept it as it is.

have u gave them a vin yet because thats when they cant find it in the system and then they will find out its rhd then rates will go up thats what happened to me

some times they put it in as an NX depends... and for all you Ontario drive clean lovers LOL don't let the asshats tell you that the vin is too short and there equipment won't accept it... theyr supposed to add X's to the end... I argued with a guy for an hour, I stated Hey if the damn MTO has paper work on this car with this Vin that they sent me in the mail, then it's obviously a legit VIN... Dumb asses... PS the vin is on the fire wall behind the Intake manifold...

I've had the car just under a year. They have the vin and I had to send them a picture of the car from both sides to show the condition.

It goes by how far your work is from your home. I"m on level 3 for distance I drive to work, and this is only my winter/weeekend car. Last thing you want to do is lie on your insurance and have them refuse your coverage when you need them.

Well been with them for a year up for renewal and they didn't ask about kms

Only paying 100 a month. They even know its RHD.

Registering was a hassle, even though it was already plated in Quebec. If the ministry gives you trouble go to a different one. If the person knows what they are doing its no problem.

One lady made me get a letter from the dealership stating that the vin matched the car. The next ministry I went to just registered it no questions asked.

I needed that letter from a dealer also. Its wasn't easy finding a dealer willing to do this.

Posted: Sat, 04/17/2010 - 8:57pm

The dealer I took it to laughed and wrote the letter in about 10 mins. They said that they have never heard of that happening, and didn't even charge me. Sure enough when I went to the other ministry, they said I didn't even need it, and that the other office was on crack.

My dealer contacted nissan of japan to verify the vin was real and not stolen. Didn't even look at the car to see if that was the actual vin on the vehicle. Took about a week.

I wrote off my first GTiR (t boned in accident) 2 years ago. The first time they were insuring me they went through the whole 'its too short' thing. One of their people working there told me its quite common it just requires an extra form. Classic cars are short multiple numbers the farther back they go. In some cases it requires a picture depending on if the insurer is an 'agent' or a 'broker' (I personaly dont know the difference, prolly has to do with the province owned vs. public owned company thing). He himself owned a restored 50's hurse and it was short 4 numbers! They gave me the USDM pulsar insurance here in Alberta too, 68 bucks a month, and when they paid me out for the accident they paid me out as if it were a GTR (!). The only thing extra they wanted out of me was an up to date oop as the other one was 5 years old and was missing 2 entries in the system. That was a 700 dollar touch when it was all done.
