gearbox case strenghtening collar

Picked up these today...

This strengthening collar is there to prevent gearbox case from cracking and is reliable and highly effective.
Made of 20mm thick 6061 alloy, the collar will literally enclose the housing at its weakest point:The bearing location.

The plate won’t allow the shafts to part out from each other , reducing the stress on the case .

-20mm thick 6061 alloy.

-Precision water jet cut.

-Increases case strength for a bullet proof tranny.

-Welding required.

-Minor hand filing might be required because of case fusion clearances.

Possible goup buy if there is enough interest. Will have price on Monday

That is awesome! A few of us have been looking at a solution for a while and this fits the bill. Definitely let us know how much for the strengthening collar.

Price on this?

Posted: Sat, 03/19/2011 - 2:26pm

Hi all, price is not defined yet. Will know more on Monday since when I picked up them yesterday to Boss of the machining company was not there. I will ask him a price based on various quantities and let you know. For sure it will be very affordable, espcially considering the benefit it will give in term of strenght. GTI-R gearbox case is quite fragile and this collar will give a very big help.

Hi guys,

for those that were asking prices:

Standard collar is priced at CAD 165 + shipping (paypal fees included)
We are currently working on a evolution of the strengthening cuff for those running silly power and still concerned about case failure.
Spent a couple of hours with the gearbox builder and a CAD engineer trying to go a step further and we have revised the design and I will disclose first pictures in a few days. First proto being realized this week.
Final design will go as far as we could go in terms of design and engineering. Honestly I don’t think there will be much room for further improvements.
The EVO collar will be more complex . It is based on a very similar cuff, but with the addition of other 5 important components (CNC machined alloy) to increase overall strength of the case. It will came with all the necessary screws, bolts and washers for an easy install.
Estimated price to be in the CAD 400 range.

to save on shipping , it will be better to send them all at the same shipping address. Will it be possible for someone to organize local shipping?

Posted: Wed, 03/30/2011 - 6:29pm

I can volunteer for this, I have a good reputation for shipping quickly and can handle the logistics.

I need an evo one made and shipped to Oz asap if possible

Posted: Tue, 04/05/2011 - 3:57am

sorry guys for the long wait but have been very busy at work. EVO collar will be ready soon, i am just at the final stage of engineering.wil lpost pics asap.
regarding shipping, if shipping more than one brace at the same address in canda shipping would be around CAD 40 by express courier. If a cheaper solution is required, i will look for it, but the one proposed is really good and trackable.

No probs Dave, thanks..... Did you end up keeping your car or finish selling it off?

Posted: Sat, 04/23/2011 - 7:00am

I still have the car and will fininsh it, selling would have been a big loss of money and at the end of the story, the gti-r has been and is my dream car.
The evo plate is still under work, have been off last week and the cad engineer is in the middle of a job change as he his starting his own company so it is taking a little longer. we are all too busy

Hi guys,

going to pick up the 5 basic collars this Friday and will be ready for shipping mid of next week.
Price as already stated is CAD 165 + shipping.
If someone will accept to receive all of them and then to ship them to the various owners, shipping will be CAD 35 each. Think this is pretty cheap for a fully tracked EMS shipment.
To have them shipped directly to each member, will be CAD 55.
Of course I will declare a lower value for customs and mark them as gifts.
If you want to proceed, please paypal the money to:

michael75@libero.it

There is much interest in this collar in UK and US and they won’t last too long, so you better be quick!

Thanks

David

I would like to see the EVO collar first as I'd probable want that unless I don't think I need to go that far (after seeing it of course), maybe then I'd think about getting a basic collar.
So please when you have time can you provide us pictures of the Evo collar.

Eagerly awaiting....

I will post pics of teh EVO collar as soon as I have all the parts ready.
The collar should be ready with the basic ones this week, then there are a few other part out to be machined early next week. Hope to have everything on hands late next week!
