although no money lost personally . ... there are some doubts about zed in spite of what he says about follow through in PMs]
Was amazed looking at royal purple specs vs all else for wear tests.

is it possible to have it with 10w40 instead of 5w30?

Posted: Mon, 03/29/2010 - 12:54pm

x2

Posted: Mon, 03/29/2010 - 1:07pm

i'd be extremely careful with the 5w30... http://www.ro-quip.com/Technical_Docs/Royal%20Purple/Industrial%20fluids/RP%20Motor%20Oil_ps.pdf

extremely low cst's at 100 centigrade... way too thin of oil for the motor

Posted: Mon, 03/29/2010 - 7:11pm

zed_not_zee, andy word on this? 10w40? And when do you think we'll be able to start buying this, season's coming up quickly.

Likewise, would like this to happen sooner rather than later. Waiting for new turbo to get installed courtesey of coldgtir. Would like fresh fluids to accompany this.

10 40 is the oil weight availble... is that what you meant?

and If there's more than one person In the GTA Ill drive it up and you guys split my gas... othere wise Im sure it's cheaper to ship as it's 8hrs total driving for me... unless we meet half way in London...

So there's more than enough interest for this, is it happening ZED_not_zee?

Posted: Mon, 04/12/2010 - 9:55am

OK checked on every thing this morning 10/04/12 to send it out after work today...

the Guy ordered the wrong MT90 there's two versions 1 version with a friction modifier for cars with front LSD's...  and one with out...

We want the version without the friction modifier.... SO MAD...  this guy is ruining my good online name!!!

any how I could have just passed it on to you and no one might have noticed the inaccurate fluid but Id feel horrible if some one incurs premature wear on there trans because i let these little detail slide.

So Until I can get the proper oil in this Group buy is on hold... The guy seems to think that I still owe him for it all but I dis-agree.  I asked for a very specific Version of a very specific Gear oil for a very picky car... and I don't intend to pay for it until it's right.

not trying to be a post flamer but
just an fyi... the centre diff may require up to 1.5L depending on if you don't have an lsd and you might require a bit more fluid.

depending on how much is drained out and how long you let it drain for.

i changed my fluid 6 months ago and i didn't have an lsd in the transfer yet
tranny is like 4.2-4.5L mt90
centre transfer is 1.2-1.5L
rear .8-1L

so keep an extra bottle handy just in case.

[edit: i could not have been more wrong about the rep. i am now disabused about the actions of trolls and sock puppets, this one was posted while i was still believing this was actually happening]

oh well $#!% happens, not to worry on rep, thanks for checking the order first. still in, will wait for correct order.
Curious about extra wear with the friction modifier stuff in the mix, thought it could affect the synchros, does it make for harder shifts in the cold with more drag??

Good to know on volumes! Perhaps an extra bottle if sending others for a bit more?

Well Ive taken a hit on this,,, Im gonna try and sell it on other forums that need this fluid,,, I might be able to get a deal on Nappa Gold filters and sell oil packages but shipping would make it all not worth it...

so this is a no go?

Posted: Fri, 04/23/2010 - 10:37am

Couple questions guys. I went down to my local shop that can get Redline. They had this MTL stuff and the guy assured me it was the same thing as MT90, i didn't really believe him but i took it anyways. How is this MTL stuff, and does it offer plenty of protection for a lightly modified gti-r?

Posted: Fri, 04/23/2010 - 11:43am

here's a comparo & specs for both:
http://www.stealth316.com/2-mtl-tech.htm
basically:
"MTL is a low 75W, almost a 70W, at very low temperatures and a high 80W, nearly an 85W, at elevated temperatures, providing adequate viscosity to prevent wear and deaden gear noise. MT-90 is a thicker 75W90 version of MTL."

So basically, MTL is just fine. i'm not road racing or rallying the thing, just an occasional drag race. Thanks for the link.

Posted: Sun, 05/02/2010 - 11:36am

More questions from me, cuz i don't want to screw this up.. I have 4 litres of MTL-tranny. 1 litre of heavy shockproof-rear diff. 2 litres of lightweight shockproof-centre diff and topping up trans. Is the all the stuff i need? Is it ok to mix lightweight shockproof with MTL??
