Edmonton (-minus a car for now) but would still love to shoot the shit with you guys regarding your little zillas. I have technicolor dreams of these cars, its a sickness im working on. So id eat up any info/stories/nightmare experiences you have about your cars. Also where does everyone get their parts from?

Posted: Thu, 02/28/2008 - 9:53pm

haha thats the problem over here..there are very limited parts available so if you get ur hands on pretty much anything, hold onto it..lol..lots of parts are the same as the nx2000 but ot be honest pretty much anything to do with the engine are specific to the gtir...(;pretty much)

what parts would be wise to stock up on? I have a parts guy who can get pretty much anything so ive been told.

Posted: Sat, 03/01/2008 - 6:07pm

just as you accumulate parts try to hold onto them...sometimes its hard cos of space but just dont throw them out...i gave some tranny parts to one of the guys on here cos i didnt have room for them...as long as they stay in the community its all good.

I've been traveling the highways between Edmonton and Red Deer for the last few weeks. I'l be officially stationed in Red Deer at the end of this week.

I would certainly like to see some other GTi-R's. A springtime meet in Red Deer maybe!?!?

Posted: Tue, 05/26/2009 - 3:48pm

Holy hell, we should have a Calgary Pulsar meet.

If anyone else is interested or even checks this forum/site, give me a message.
Im horribly interested in gathering all the Calgarian R's and going for a cruise, how sick would that be.

If you ever see me, flash your damn lights and say Hi, Im the white R with the FMIC and 5000k HIDs.
and Im female. I dont think ive seen another white R here yet, besides an ivory white Falken'd out one.

I keep hearing that JDMsource has sold a few white rs but I never see them on the road. BUNK.

Posted: Wed, 05/27/2009 - 7:51pm

We should reallyhave a giant meet in Red Deer, for both Edmonton and Calgary :P

Posted: Wed, 05/27/2009 - 9:50pm

I am in for a meet some time as long as there is some warning so that I can get off of work.

Posted: Thu, 05/28/2009 - 9:34pm

i'd be down!

you can easily buy the uprated tensioner from nissan, same as any other sr20de

no if you small hands, yes if you have big hands.. other than that its easy

Sorry to hear that. If any consolation a guy in Edmonton last year imported one for around 10K then had about 3K extra cost for spun bearing etc days after it arrived.
Have you been able to isolate the problem and identify what the might be?

edit: question restated here: http://www.canadagtir.com/forums/canada-gtir/general-chatter/good-compression-test-readingsgot-low-cylinderneed-help

When I pulled the spark plug boot off of the bad cylinder,it was covered in rust dust I dont know if the moisture came from washing the engine bay or when the engine runs if it is leaking into the spark plug gallery?I just picked up the car 2 days ago and starting to find out what I actually purchased.I think it is either a cracked head or head gasket? Im not sure but if it were the head gasket would I here it? I cranked the engine over with only 1 plug in the bad cylinder looking for bubbles coming from the rad, with the rad cap off but could not see anything (im not sure if i actually would)there is no anti freeze in the oil.So if the head is cracked or gasket is gone I thought it would potenially pressurize the cooling system.( I think)Im just really unsure right now.

Posted: Fri, 04/02/2010 - 10:30am

the rust could be from water getting into the spark plug wells from rain kuz of the vented hood.

Posted: Fri, 04/02/2010 - 10:31am

Anyone in Edmonton want to meet up sometime? I haven't run into anyone else yet! :)

was it that white one on kijiji?

Posted: Fri, 04/02/2010 - 11:25am

Good possibility,But unfortunetly that is the least of my worries now I pulled the valve cover and found that there is alot of heat damage on the camshafts there is no oil pumping out of the oilers above the cams when I crank the engine over.
