Was putting my glovebox back together after taking out my AC heat exchanger and heard a constant rapid ticking noise. I found that it was a relay that is located right beside the ECU called the EGI relay. Apparantly it is somehow related to the fuel pump. Anyone know what function this relay actually serves? When I turn the key to acc it stops clicking. When I turn the ign all the way off it starts clicking again. When I unplug the clicking EGI relay and plug it back in it stops clicking until I turn the ign to acc again.
Either way I am going to order a new one. I have had a electrical draw problem with my car, the battery will go dead if the car sits for a couple days. So I am hoping it is just the relay. The battery is a brand new red top.
Well I ordered a new one from Nissan. Earlier tonight the car wouldn't start so I tapped on the relay and it fired up lol. Obviously something is buggered with it. Looks like it mainly controls the injectors as the fuel pump was still priming the whole time.
Just thinking about how lucky I am that I heard that relay clicking. Honestly I know about zero to do with car electronics so it would have taken me forever to track it down.
