Pulsar 2.0!

After writing off my first shell at grand bend 3 years ago, I have rebuilt her bigger and better than ever.  Just took her out for the first lapping day last Friday.  Following are some pics and vids.

While out on this session I blew the upper rad hose apart from the heat off the manifold:

Overall I'm super happy with it.

how were you able to use the stock gti-r headbolt with the vvl head ? I have the 1n5 version head from a p11/u14 jdm and the head bolts are 1/2 inch too long

Nice to finally see your build! Which ecu did you end up with? Gtir or b13? I am asking because as you know I am building something similar. And when I was talking it over with buddy from nismotronic he was suggesting using a usdm ecu and using the outputs for emissions controls to activate the cams and convert to speed density. I'm hoping to be able stay with the gtir ecu and use the break out box instead.

I am pretty sure you can use both ecu if you make sure the pinout is exactly the same as the ecu you are using

I stacked gtir headbolt washers to make up the difference. So far working great. I was going to get some spacers made up but figured I'd go budget :)

I'm using a b13 ecu, but you could easily use either. Just use what you have as the pinouts are practically identical. Gtir has a factory boost control output.

As far as i know you could have called ARP to get custom head studs. Could have taken a while to get them but like that you don't need spacers or a ton of washers.

By the way you should put some heatwrap on those headers to help prevent your coolant hose from breaking. It will also help to remove a lot of heat under the hood.

Heat wrap sucks. Pain to put on, causes rust, and looks gross imho. Im getting it swain tech white lightning coated. I also wrapped the rad hose in heat reflective tape.

As for the head studs, this is a budget build, i already had a brand new set of gtir headstuds and they are proven to be best for the gtir. Custom arps would have taken forever and been very expensive. Plus i think there is a minimum order size.

If anyone wants to see this at the track I'll be at Cayuga (TMP) for evening lapping session tomorrow.  Come for a ride!
