EVO STRENGHTENING COLLAR

Here is the latest version of my gearbox strengthening collar. It has taken a while and slowed down my rebuild but it is ready now. There are many bits involved and companies are not very fast when doing small batches ,especially prototypes. The collar is based on my previous one, but as some members showed concerns on how it would help with the case being broken by the final drive pushing on the case, I modified it and many parts have been added. The brace fits with no mods , no clearance issues with the chassis and can even be fitted without welding it to the case as the brace is very very well shaped with minimal clearance. This means it can even be fitted without dropping the engine and box, you will just need to lower it a little bit. The plate is secured by 4x10mm 10.9 studs to the bottom of the casing. To do so we have realized some simple but special steel screws : male side is 8x1,25 , female side is 10x1. These have been machined with high grade steel. A set of 4 alloy (6061)spacers are supplied and are used to correctly space the collar. As you can see a portion of the collar is skimmed. This is needed to clear the chassis, but it is still 10mm thick, so strength is not a concern. To finally stop the pressure caused by the final drive on the case there is a 15mm top cover, correctly shaped and spaced and two 10mm thick alloy discs that fit just over the bearings location. The alloy discs can be adjusted by 8mm Allen screws and then secured by bolts. In that way the pressure exerted by the discs is completely adjustable as you don’t want too much force to be applied there. Each disc has 4 screws on it, so pressure can be evenly distributed.(not pictured) I think this is as far as we can go with the std case. I know that some people will complain that the other portion of the case will now receive all the pressure, but I doubt there is something that can be done there, and I think the brace will really help a lot. Considering that a friend’s car has done many passes on the std collar and over 400bhp without failure, I am confident this new version will give even better results. All the parts are precisely cut and machined from high grade alloy and steel for a hassle free installation and performance. Depending on the interest kit can be realized in small batches. Please note that the kits will be made to order, with a lead time of around 2 weeks and a deposit is needed before starting production.

str_motorsport will be doing a second batch of collars as announced yesterday on another forum "nissangtir" from the UK. You'll find it in the Performance mods section listed as "gearbox case collar 2nd batch" or I'm sure str will be listing that information here as well. The cost has gone up a little as with anything in this world now that a run has been produced and costs have reared their ugly little heads.

Your lucky as there was a time when he decided not to run another batch of collars due to the group buy stresses. There are also updated photos of the last revisions to the kit which give it more strength and even pressure to the end of the bearings (just a more refined product)

Cheers

Yes aa new small batch should be made.
As for cost it is a little higher cause we added some maching here and there for a better product.the previous batch is exactly the same design, but we have to involve 3 companies looking for the best bang for buck, but this is too much hassle for me,so we decided to involve oonly 2 companies to do all the work, but it is a little more expensive.
Ivan,your plate leaves on Friday

Update
There is still some interest in the braces so I am.considering doing another batch. Will need at least 5 people interested.
As usual deposit needed to join the list and start production.I am forced to do in that way because of people ordering stuff and never paid for it in the past.
Have sold a devent number of braces and as the gtir community is not so big, this could be the last chance to grab one.

Some of these braces are holding down 500 HP cars people. The next solution is a 5 thousand dollar dog box!

I am using it with a par dog box.
Std gears usually give up before the case but with higher strenght gears and strong clutches the weak point is the case.
The only other solutionbis a bilet.cnc case but cost is really crazy

So you're running different gears in the stock housing, and then this collar and being able to do launches with 500whp?

This is the only effective mod you can do to a std case.
The only other option is.going billet, but prices are extremely high.
I cannot guarantee it will make the case unbreakable, but it is the same for a racing clutch or gearset...no manufacturer will claim and guarantee it will hold everything you throw at it
