Best transmission gears?

I'm in the middle of a pretty high HP build on my GTiR, and looking at drivetrain upgrades.  I've already bought the STR transmission strengthening brace, front and rear diffs, and I'm waiting to see what happens with the Modena center diff.  So, next question is what are the best transmission gears?  I've looked at PPG, Par Engineering, and the Quaife gears.  For a car that will see very limited street use, I'm looking more at the Par or PPG dog cut gears.  However, I have a hard time spending as much money on gears as I did to build the motor.

Anybody have any experience with any aftermarket transmission gears?

I have a PAR dog gear set on mine, with final drive and billet 3/4 and 5th gear forks.
Works really well, quick shifts, not too noisy even if it is straight cut.
Quality wise,I had it inspected by a local company doing gears for all sort of applications, including Lamborghini and superbikes, and the gears are very well machined.
PAR is the cheapest of the 3,Modena in the middle and PPG is the most expensive.
So far I am pleased with my PAR and so does a friend.of mine with a PAR synchro kit.
Hope this helps

It all depends on your build spec. If you're going for anything over 600hp I'd say go for PPG. Anything less PAR will be just fine. As you know the weakpoint of the trans is the casing. Like most products you get what you pay for, PPG does deliver a better quality product but their gearsets are expensive as hell. The only reason why I have a PPG dogbox is because I bought mine second hand for less than half the retail price. I'll let you know if it explodes when I get the car on the road lol.

STR:  What did that setup cost you if you don't mind my asking?  Also, did you change the final drive to get a different ratio, or just for a stronger gear set?  Does the PAR set include new input/output shafts?

I'm hoping to make about 550hp with the setup I'm putting together, although it probably won't be run at that high a HP level except at the track.

I really don't remember the price,it was more than.2 years ago.
I got rhe full kit including 5th gear, final drive and 5th gear steel fork.
Straight cut final drive reduces stress on the case too and is of course stronger.
All I can is that it fitted very well amd works great!

You should use one of my EVO gearbox braces to prevent this from happening again.
PM me as I can also supply PPG gearsets at good prices.
